Q: Hi Sir, I m Edwin, I am working on a construction site. 3 months before, an accident happened on my construction site and regarding this accident issue, my passport was held by Dubai police. But the injured person is good, and the doctor certificate also clearly mentions that the person is good, but till now the police did not release my passport from the police station. Next month is my marriage, so is it possible to replace the passport with another one or not? Please give your suggestion about this.  

Q: I have submitted my passport to the Dubai public prosecution for my friend on a bounced cheque case and he didn't attend his hearing. The judge announced a one-month sentence against him, and now I am unable to contact him and I don't know whether he is in the UAE or not. How can I get my passport back because I want to travel home? Is there any option to get my passport by paying a fine or any other possible option?

Q: Hi there, I currently have a traffic case in the investigation status against me for driving without a license, causing damage to another person's property and driving a vehicle without permission (my wife's car). I fully accept the charges against me. I urgently need to travel to my home country by 11 May and my wife will remain in the UAE. Q: One year ago, an accident happened at my site. A laborer's both hands were fractured during marble unloading and I took to him to hospital. I was helping him even he was not working under my department. But when the police came, they took my ID and details. After that, there was no follow-up. The company paid the hospital expenses and gave him the job back after sick leave. Now the situation is that I resigned from the company and I was traveling back to India. At the airport check-in, they told me I have a travel ban. How can I close this case and lift my travel ban?

Personal injury involves an injury sustained physically, emotionally and mentally. The injured person is entitled to claim damages where he has suffered an injury due to the other person’s wrongdoing. The victim may file a case against the person, who is found guilty in a criminal case or his insurance company if the defaulter has secured himself by insurance. The UAE civil law allows filing a compensation claim for injury damages.

This Law promulgates the Federal Penal Code (Criminal Law) of the United Arab Emirates. Crimes and chastisement punishments shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of this Law and other penal codes.
