Payment of an outstanding loan from abroad after leaving
Hi Hari,
My name is P.
I have a question for you, hoping a better clarification from you. I am working in the UAE and I have taken a loan of AED 150,000 from a bank.
Till date, I have paid my monthly dues without fail. I am planning to change my job outside the UAE.
What are the steps that I should follow?
Is it possible for me to pay my loan amount in the UAE while staying outside the UAE?
Kindly advice.

Dear P.
Thank you for reaching out to me on this.
There are few complications and administrative steps you will have to take before you decide to pay the EMI's from out of the UAE.
Firstly, I am assuming you are employed and will quit from here to work outside the UAE.
The moment your current employer sends EOSB to your bank (assuming you have taken a loan from the same bank as salary account), the bank will freeze your account and the sums in it.
The bank may demand the settlement of full dues at this moment since you will leave the country and they won't have any security.
Secondly, if you are able to convince your bank that you will continue to pay them from out of the UAE, then there is no difficulty and you may proceed to do so.
I would advise that you get in touch with your relationship manager in the bank or any other official, explain the situation to them and your commitment to continuing paying the bank from out of the UAE.
In theory, it is possible to pay from out of the UAE and it depends on how the bank deals with your exit from the UAE due to security reason.
I trust you will find this helpful.

Hari Wadhwana
