Required notice period for resignation during probation
I am on my probation period and I want to resign. But the company I work for won't let me resign without giving 3 months notice period.
Do I have a notice period while on probation?
You did not tell me if your contract is a limited or unlimited contract.
If the contract is unlimited, you do not have to compensate the company. You must notify the employer and send an official email notification.
If the contract is limited, your resignation is deemed as a breach of contract and it may attract a penalty to compensate the employer for your breach. This compensation is capped at 1.5 times salary.
You should know if your contract is unlimited, you may be subject to a one-year labour ban.
