Dear,

Kindly provide more information such as, who took the cheque and relating to what commitment?

However, if someone is holding the cheque and if dishonoured, the aggrieved party can file a criminal case and the ban will be imposed.

Regards

My friend received a cheque which was encashed. Now, his company is asking for the money back.

He did not give any documents or sign anything and he does not hold any relation from that company.

If the cheque is encashed, the liability begins and the burden of proof lies upon your friend.
