Q: I had a keratin treatment on December 31 and after a day I complained as they have damaged my hair. They advised me to blow dry my hair every after the shower. I tried it for a few days until I got tired and it isn't supposed to be this way, so I went back to the salon and talked to the owner. She claimed that it's their mistake and advised me to give my hair a rest for 2 weeks so they can do the same treatment again. I agreed. However, I am hesitant that my hair might be more damaged as it is already brittle and crumbled. It's totally destroyed. I have another week to do the same procedure again. Can I demand to take my money back and not do the same treatment again?

Q: Dear community, Our relative is on a tourist visa in Dubai. She has visited a beauty salon yesterday in DIFC. A standard procedure has resulted in severe cut with continuous bleeding, in sensitive parts. The salon didn't charge her and they followed up asking if she was okay. We bought medicine to stop the bleeding at home. We didn't visit the hospital or a doctor, as we have an 8-month-old baby and it is not easy to do this. At this stage, we want to sue them for these damages, because it is yet to be seen how this will impact in the future. Kind Regards,

Q: Hello. I am facing a really horrible time after visiting one of the salons in Dubai in December 2020. I had permanent makeup remover on my eyebrows and it is been now 1 year and a half and I have horrible red scars on my face instead of eyebrows. I visited a lot of clinics trying to improve it, however, all doctors are saying it is scars and nothing can be done and I have to live with it. I want to file a case against that salon that did it for me. I am a young lady and now I have to hide my face once I step out of my apartment because of these horrible scars. My lifestyle is changed, I am trying to avoid people so they will not look at my scars, it kills me day by day and I got so much depressed.

Q: I was asked to help a friend find some representation, in an application of legal notice, against a beauty center in Dubai. XYZ attended a facial appointment mid-Sep 22 whereby she suffered quite nasty chemical burns across her face as she undertook professional treatment. Apologies were given at the time and XYZ was led to believe that this skin reaction/scarring was quite normal but, symptoms would elapse over a month or so. 9 weeks later and the burns are still present, considerably so, and much to her horror and disbelief. She is obviously very upset. I wonder if anyone in this forum has experience in such matters to help/advise her on the process to take court/legal action against the salon. This salon is clearly not following the correct procedure, and without further treatment to remove her scars, she now carries this for life. I look forward to a few notes (perhaps on past experience) and the pricing structure of your fees, please.

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I developed severe skin spots after a 45-minute electrolysis session. I paid 6,000 AED for 15 hours of treatment, but I only used 45 minutes. I received a professional certificate stating that I am not suitable to continue the treatment, but the company is not refunding or transferring the money.

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I got my hair dyed at a salon. I told them not to put the dye on my scalp because I have had very bad reactions before. I even showed them pictures of how bad the reaction was. They said they use organic dye, assured me I wouldn't get a reaction, and proceeded to put it on my scalp. That evening, my scalp began to redden, and the back of my neck and ears were sore. The next day, blisters had formed on my ears, and my neck was hot and throbbing. I went back to the salon to ask what dye they used. It said on the pack it shouldn't be used if you've had previous reactions to dying hair and they should do a patch test. They called the owner but she was out for dinner so she said she would call me back which still hasn't. Is there anything I can do? I feel the salon hasn't taken my reaction seriously at all.
