Claiming compensation for a declined job offer

Hello,

I got a job offer letter in July 2018 for internal medicine specialist position at a hospital in the UAE.

After receiving the offer letter, I obtained the license in August 2018 and paid a fee amount of AED 3020. Then I got from the same hospital's job offer agreement and visa application form to fill.

I was supposed to start in November 2018. I was asked also to finish my notice period in the previous hospital. When everything was done, the hospital decided to put my position on hold.

Since then I am jobless and still waiting to start my employment according to the job offer agreement. Do I have any rights for compensation?

Thank you

Dear Questioner,

Please note that all job offers in the UAE are conditional and are subject to the visa approval by different government departments and authorities.

You may file a compensation case for the declined offer, missed opportunity and all. The chances of getting a favourable judgement is low.

Please feel free to contact me if you need any further information, assistance or guidance in this matter.

Thank you.
