Q: Good afternoon
I have a case regarding a loan with a bank. They put on me a police case for a bounced cheque. I have already attended a court and paid a penalty.
Then I got notification from the court that I am free, but the bank still pushes me for making a minimum payment.
The question is if I have already paid a penalty to the court, does the loan still continue?

What to expect in a police case due to loan default
10
Q: Hi,
I took a loan from a UAE Bank for AED 450,000, I now have AED 230,000 of the loan outstanding.
Due to delay in my salary, I missed 3 instalments and the bank deposited my security cheque for 600,000 AED and it bounced. My bank filed a case with the police 10 days ago.
I went to issue a visa for my daughter and was informed that I can not complete the application as I have a police case for bounced cheque 10 days ago against me in Qusais Police Station.
I am trying to get refinance from my bank, assuming the refinance doesn't go ahead, kindly advise:
1- When would it be likely to get called to the police station (how many days typically after a case is filed).
2- When called the first time, am I likely to spend time jailed in a police station or can I walk out the same day if I surrender my passport.
3- Will a fine be imposed?
4- If this goes to court, what is the likely sentence?
5- Is my liability to the bank AED 600,000 or 230,000 AED?
I intend to pay in full over 2 years

Expected time and action for a bounced cheque criminal case
5
Q: Dear Madam,
I have received information from the bank that I have a cheque bounce case for AED 219,000/- on Feb 27.
So far, I have not received any message or email or call from the police station. I want to change my Emirates ID phone number also. What do I have to do?
Shall I approach any police station in Dubai? Please clarify my doubt.
Thanks and regards
N.

The right procedure upon defaulting on a loan

3
Q: The bank has already filed a criminal case against my security check that they asked me to sign prior to taking the personal loan (after defaulting two EMI's payments, because I resigned from my job and currently still unemployed).
My outstanding loan is AED 58,303. I have already paid them around AED 65K, and the amount they wrote on the check is AED 124K. Now I am confused about where should I go first; to the police station or to the bank to make a settlement?
Please advice.
Thank you!

Impact of missing a loan instalment after job loss on travelling outside the UAE
1
Q: I am leaving the country within the month due to being laid off from work. I was late in paying my latest loan instalment by only one day, which resulted in the bank calling to ask why last month's salary was not credited.
I told them that I was still employed with the company and that this month's salary will be credited without any issue. I told them that I paid the last loan instalment anyway.
This explanation seems to have satisfied the bank representative, however, I'm still concerned. I am currently updated on my loan payment, with no other debt except for this loan.
I plan to continue my payments once I'm back home as I am starting a business. I cannot pay my loan if I get stuck here in the UAE. Is travel ban a possibility when I leave the country in the coming weeks?

What happens if I am already outside the UAE then my visa got cancelled?
Will the bank close my bank account or I can still continue to pay my debts?

Legal remedy for non-compete suit filed by ex-employer 1
Hi,
I have signed a non-compete clause (under unlimited contract) with my previous company. After working for 8 years with them, they terminated me.
I have now joined a competitor considering there was no other job available in the market. Now after 7 months, my previous company has filed a legal suit asking for compensation considering I am in a similar role and in the same territory.
What is the available remedy?

Eligibility for 3 months salary benefit upon termination for redundancy 16
Hi,
I worked in my company for 8 years and was terminated on the same day specifying redundancy as the reason. The company paid me all the dues (1 month notice period salary, gratuity, and unpaid leave salary).
I want to know if I am eligible for 3 months termination salary benefit considering none of the other employees were terminated?
