How to speed up a complaint I made against my employer for not paying full notice period and salary?
Q: Hi I made а complaint against my employer for not paying full notice period salary and for due salary (38 days salary) on 02-02-24 and I received a call from the Labor Advisor to research the complaint. Тhereafter, I received one SMS stating that they would contact me again on 05-02-24 at 04:30 pm. But until now, I haven’t received any call or update from the Labor Advisor. In MOHRE, it’s showing that recommendations are not yet approved by the Ministry. Please advise me on what to do. أسئلة وأجوبة

A friend took cash and cheque from me for cryptocurrency he never sent and bounced the cheque
Q: It`s a blackmail case. So a few days ago, I needed to buy cryptocurrency in Dubai, and a friend offered he could help me. But I was a little short of money, I mean I wanted to get 20,000 dirhams worth of crypto but had only 15k. So my friend told me it was okay, and he would arrange the 5k for me. So I transferred him 15k in his bank account and for the rest 5k, I gave him a cheque. He was supposed to transfer me crypto by that evening. But 2-3 days passed and he did not send me crypto and he seemed to become very busy, not responding to calls and messages. After a week, I finally got hold of him and then he backfired saying crypto is illegal in Dubai, he can`t help me with this and that, and he started saying I owe him 5k, so I need to clear him for that. He submitted that cheque to the bank and it bounced. He filed a case in court and today he sent me a message he`s publishing news in the newspaper for the court notice and will put a travel ban on me. أسئلة وأجوبة

Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I have a question about rent renewal for an apartment in Dubai. My contract is up for renewal in 3 months, and I received notification of a 20% rent increase. When attempting to use the Dubai Land rent calculator, I encountered the message: "Rental index data is not available for this period and will be updated later." Data is only available until the end of March. If my contract were up for renewal now and I could use the rent calculator, there would be no increase in rent according to the calculator. What does deferred to pleading mean after the case was set for judgement?

Unpaid service charges in shared ownership: Who bears responsibility?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am a 50% owner of a leasehold property. The lease agreement does not specify joint or several liability. It only mentions "xxxx and yyyy" as the lessees. We have not paid service charges for the last 3 years. The other co-owner left the house 3 years ago and ceased all communications with me. The co-owner is uncontactable. The management company initiated an RDC execution case against me and my co-owner. Am I liable only for 50% of the total due amount? Or am I liable for 100% of the due amount? Is an MOU still legally binding to parties after its expiry?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, We are at the final stages of the process, with our MoU expiring while waiting for the NOC. All cheques have been issued and shared. In the MoU, we have a couple of additional conditions regarding the seller`s obligation to obtain the NOC and a penalty of 10% for defaulting on either side. Q: Hello, I`m a 23-year-old Emirati woman who wants to leave the country. I have several questions, regarding leaving the country. If I leave without my parents` approval, will there be any issues at the airport particularly with the border control? If my family files a missing report, will my passport become invalid while I`m abroad, or will I face arrest upon my return? Also, if I marry someone from abroad, will obtaining documents like a single status certificate or marrying someone legally here be affected without support from my parents? Uncomfortable with workload. Any liabilities upon resigning?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am currently on a company visa, which began last October 2023. However, with the recent management change, I am uncomfortable with my workload. I am handling the responsibilities of three positions but receiving a low salary. Moreover, 80% of my colleagues, including management, are Russian speakers, while I am not. Q: Hi, I just want to ask, I resigned from my company last December 2023 while I was under the probationary period, and they said I need to pay the visa cost, labor card, and medical expenses, totaling around 5k, before they cancel my visa. Despite contract end, employer demands work till labor card expires
Q: Hi, good day! The contract I signed in the Philippines on February 9, 2022, was set to expire by February 9, 2024. I decided not to renew it and discussed this personally with my employer, who agreed. However, she now informs me that I still need to work until March 23, 2024, as the labor card expires on that day. I entered the UAE on March 23, 2022, and the contract was signed while I was still in the Philippines. Despite this, I have already decided not to continue working for personal reasons. Can I lift a travel ban and return to the UAE if I left with visa overstay issues?
Q: Sir. I have uae ban in year 2008. The reason is passport cheating issues. No visa for 8 months stay in the UAE. Last outpass through exit in the UAE. After 1 year, again in 2009 I applied for a visit visa but no chance to visit in Dubai because I have ban in the UAE. After 14 years, last 4 month back again I tried but there no chance. We signed an MOU and it expired before the developer granted NOC. Can we refuse to extend?
Q: We signed an MOU in December`23 and it expired on the 9th of Feb. The buyer has got the manager`s cheque ready but there is a long delay from the developer`s end in issuing the NOC. Do I still need to vacate the property despite clearing dues?
Q: Hi, I received a notification from Dubai courts regarding non-payment of rent on 26/01/2024. It stated that all pending rent must be paid, and the property must be vacated within 30 days. All rent has now been paid up until the tenancy contract end date on 04/03/2025. Do I still need to vacate the property? The landlord is suggesting I renew the contract but is requesting a 25% increase in the annual rent. Can anyone advise if my only option is to vacate the premises or agree to the 25% increase? I defaulted on a personal loan and the finance company filed a civil case with a much higher amount
Q: Hi, I have received a message from a finance company legal team stating that my file has been sent to start filing a civil case for my personal loan for which I defaulted on its payments. Total loan: AED 98,000 Tenure: 120 months Interest rate: 39.99 Amount Paid: 36,740 No. of Months Pending: 109 pending Amount Pending: 364,060 Principal Amount Pending: 94,547.65 During my settlement discussions, I requested to take into consideration the amount that has been paid towards my loan: 36,740 AED, however, this request has been rejected, and it has been proposed to pay AED 80,000 in one shot. I also requested multiple times to receive the statement of all payments that I made. Requests have been rejected and I have submitted a complaint to the Central Bank which is still under investigation How can I better negotiate a settlement that is more reasonable in order to avoid a civil case? Can I cancel the contract with my tenant before it started for not fulfilling his obligations?
Q: Hello, I need your help with advice. I own a property and recently signed a contract with a new tenant who is supposed to move by March 1st. But I haven’t received the deposit or first payment and when I asked about the payment, he said that he is out of the country till mid of March and will check how to sort this issue. Will the contract be void if he didn’t pay the deposit yet? Once I signed it, I had to go through the rental dispute center against him even though our contract hadn’t even started yet.
