What are the requirements with the personal status court if a custody agreement is proposed?
Q: Please be informed that the first instance court provided the sole custody of the child to the father. Currently, there is an ongoing Personal Status and inheritance appeal, and the case is reserved for judgment, and only a few days are left. We are non-Muslim expats. However, the mother is proposing mutual agreements. 1. Sole custody provided to the mother with limited visitation rights to the father upon mutual agreement. 2. Joint custody - where in mother will sponsor the visa and shared expenses. Such an agreement is possible at this stage through a digital identity channel. Will it be allowed to be submitted to the court and acknowledged in front of the Judge? Is it recommended, considering the best interest of the child? What are the rights of the father in case of an agreement, if a sole custody or a joint custody agreement is made between both parties? Kindly advise.

How can I refund the deposit I paid to a car dealer if the receipt stated it is refundable?
Q: Dear all, I’m seeking legal advice regarding a refundable deposit of AED 1,000 paid to a car trading company around a year ago while considering the purchase of a used car. The receipt clearly states the deposit was refundable at the time of purchase, but I ultimately did not proceed with buying a car from them. Despite numerous follow-ups over the past year, I have not received any refund or official response. Today, a representative informed me that the deposit is non-refundable if no car is purchased, which contradicts what is written on the receipt. The employers are delaying my experience letter intentionally. What can I do?
Q: Dear Respected Lawyers, I need advice. I have worked in a company for 6 years. After 4 years of leaving that company, I need a detailed experience letter mentioning my position at that time, with duties. As per the labor law, can I get it or not, or how? I have to submit this letter to the Ministry of Labor in the UAE to prove that my duties are matching with my visa. The employers are not responding to my emails or even calls; they are purposefully delaying it so that I cannot get my new job.+1

I sold my car to a car agency and they claim that the car is dead to deduct an amount. What can I do?
Q: I sold my vehicle to a known Buy and Sell agency in Abu Dhabi last 25 July 2025. They inspected the vehicle meticulously and quoted AED 12,000 Net. A vehicle sale-purchase agreement was presented, revealing that they will cut AED 600 for a convenience fee. So my Net pay will be 11,400. I agreed and signed all in good faith. I was instructed to wait until their PRO call and do the transfer of title at the vehicle registry. Since it was Friday, the transfer was not completed, and I have to wait till Monday. The next day, Saturday (17:30-18:00), they sent a message that the car is dead, sent it via recovery to Dubai for another inspection. They told me that the price needs to be renegotiated; they gave me a figure of AED 9000. They sent me a new agreement with the figure of 9000, but I did not sign it and just ignored it. Transfer finished, then they sent 11,400 to my account. Now they want the alleged excess back. Legally, do I owe them? Or I am being harassed as phone calls and emails are non-stop.

What can our company do if the client cancelled the order and threatened to file a case for the cancellation fee?
Q: Salaam Alekum We had a client from the US who had an agreement with us for 19-20 big buses for 20 days of transport service in KSA. They cancelled 12 buses and then the entire order 2-3 days before the event. They paid around 25% of the total cost initially agreed on 50% before the event. We have been keeping those buses on hold for more than 1 month, not taking other bookings, and facing losses. My company is charging them 50% cancellation fees because of last-minute cancellation, but now the client is threatening us to take legal action and doing PR advisement by asking for the deposit they paid. Our policy is refund will be issued within 45 days after internal investigation, but the client is threatening us again. We don`t give a refund if the cancellation is done by the client and mentioned on the invoice as well. In this case, we are considering a solution which takes time. What can we do in this situation, as we have already faced lots of loss?

What can I do if my company filed a breach of trust case against me after losing money I held from customers?
Q: Hi Sir, My company was not giving me my commission cheques since November, so I kept the payment of 2 - 3 customers with me and I told the company to pay my commission to take payment of customers, then I lost the money from the car. I reported it to police, but police didn`t find any evidence. Then my company came to know this matter, and they said I owed them money. They forced me to sign a paper that I would pay in one month for the amount of 18000. I signed it, then they terminated me. They were not ready to pay anything. I filed a case in labor for about 37000 dhs, then my company filed a criminal case against me for breach of trust. My company has my passport, and they haven`t canceled my visa yet. After my labour case, my company filed the case against me in labour as well, claiming an amount of 49900. Then they requested to cancel the labour case of 49900 and filed a case 24000. What should I do in this scenario? I am under too much stress. Please advise.

How to claim an amount transferred by mistake to a company which is not responding or returning it back?
Q: An "A" individual / Company by mistake transfers/deposits some funds to another "B" company. "B" company, despite certain follow-up efforts with "A" Company to recall or claim back the wrong payment, remained unresponsive, and “A" company could not track the depositor information. In such cases, what is the time frame within which "A" Company is liable to retain in suspense? Can "A" company deny the claims of "B" company in the future, as it was written off by "A" company after a few months of tracking.

Visa cancelled, salary unpaid. How to check if my UAE employer filed absconding?
Q: Hello, My visa has automatically been closed since I’m outside the UAE. But my company didn’t pay me the final month’s salary and settlement. I submitted my resignation from outside the UAE, as the company suggested I take a leave instead when I resigned from there. Now I filed a complaint through MOHRE customer service for the salary, but the response was that they couldn’t find any issue. I’m not sure how the company cancelled my visa without clearing the payment. How can I check if they have filed an absconding case?+4

Can I get my overstay fines waived after a case was recently closed?
Q: Hi, I would like to seek legal assistance. I am currently overstaying due to a complaint registered against me last year, which was not closed even after it was settled. Only today, I received a letter from Dubai Prosecution about the lifting of my travel ban and the closure of the case. Is there any way I can file to claim a waiver for my fines or at least a fine reduction? Q: Hello, An agent from a company in the housing space promised me a percentage cashback from the brokerage if I booked the house through him. He sent this understanding via both his company and personal email. After regular follow-ups, he paid a certain percentage but claims the company is not willing to release the remaining amount. The agent has since left the organization and started his own business, and I am left hanging to deal with the company on my own. I have never visited or had any contact within the company. Please help or guide me in the right direction, as the amount is my hard-earned lifetime savings and is considerably large.

Q: Hello, If my husband has a mental disorder and cannot provide financially for me and my son, what can we do in this situation? Although his family is financially capable of helping, they are not supporting him. He cannot afford housing either. They are not contributing to his medical care or any of his expenses.
