How can I confirm my deportation removal approval and ensure smooth re-entry?
Q: Hello, Firstly, thanks to the legal experts here whose advice and insights were very helpful to me in the recent past. My mercy petition to remove deportation has been approved, Alhamdulillah. However, I did not receive any SMS. When I called the Dubai Public Prosecution helpline, the person informed me by checking their system that this was approved in January 2024. But my lawyers kept telling me there was no update all this time. I want to double-check if the approval is final and official, and also understand what other official steps I need to take before I can legally enter the UAE again without any issues at the airport/immigration. Should there be any official documents stating the removal of deportation? If yes, how can I obtain them? Thanks!

Can I keep my shop by paying rent in installments despite an eviction case against me?
Q: Hi, I have leased out a shop in Dubai, but due to huge financial losses and my husband`s job loss, I can`t afford to pay the rent. Meanwhile, my landlord has filed a case for eviction and payment of rent. Right now, my condition is getting better as my husband has got a job and is ready to pay the rent in installments. Can I pay in installments and hold the shop even if the judgment goes against me?

Q: I hired two law firms to help resolve my rental dispute case, but both betrayed my trust. The first firm was to settle my balance at Sharjah Municipality. In November 2023, they asked for 50% of AED 70,942 to initiate an installment plan. Trusting them, I transferred the amount, believing it would go to the municipality. By June 2024, I discovered a travel ban was imposed on me. When I confronted the firm, they admitted the money never reached the municipality, claiming someone in their company took it. In October 2024, I hired another firm, they asked me to pay 8,000 AED upfront as lawyer’s fees. After that, they became unresponsive, ignoring my messages and providing no updates. Now, I’m unsure how to recover the AED 37,244.50 from the first firm and AED 8,000 from the second. I’ve lost trust in the legal system and don’t know how to proceed. I tried to find an Emirati lawyer, thinking it would be better, but my case always goes to a legal consultant. What should I do?

Can I close my UAE fixed deposit remotely with a POA if I can't travel?
Q: Hello, I am outside the UAE and canceled my UAE residency 2 years ago. I have an ENBD account with a fixed deposit of 10,000 AED and a credit card linked to that fixed deposit. Both were suspended a few months ago due to not having residency in the UAE. I want to close the fixed deposit because I need the money now, but I cannot travel to the UAE at the moment. If I give someone (or a lawyer) power of attorney, can they go to the bank branch and close the fixed deposit for me? I have no cases against me, no outstanding loans, and the credit card balance is fully paid. The bank informed me that I must first close the credit card, then wait 45 days before closing the fixed deposit in person at the branch. However, I cannot go to the UAE for the next 6 months. How much would the process cost if I do a POA and hire a lawyer?+3

I could not pay two credit cards in the UAE . Can the bank proceed with legal action in my country?
Q: I have two credit cards in the UAE with the amount of 30,000 and 15,000 but due to a bad financial situation, I am unable to pay them back. Then I decided to move back to Pakistan to avoid legal action. I still haven`t found any solution to pay them back because of my bad financial situation. We signed MOU to purchase a house on a mortgage and it got delayed. Can the seller ask for compensation?
Q: Hello to all. We are purchasing a house with a home loan. We signed the MOU on 31/10 and unfortunately, it took the bank approximately 2 months to complete the whole process. Now the MOU has already expired and the seller is asking for an additional 10% security deposit as compensation for the delay. It is not our fault as we don`t have control over the bank approvals. Can they do that? Are we protected from DLD in this matter as the property is under mortgage? Thank you

My ex-wife has managed to get alimony increaase and I cannot pay the amount. What to do?
Q: My divorce was finalized in 2018. Following was the ruling, for my younger son, my ex-wife will get 2000 Dirhams per month and for my youngest son, she will get 1500 per month. Furthermore, she will get AED 65,000 per annum for house rental. She went ahead and claimed the above in execution in May 2019, the sum total outstanding in May 2019 was 131,000. My younger son`s custody shifted to me in 2020. Now she only has the youngest one with her. I kept 5000 dirhams per month as mutually agreed in court and since 2019 till today I’ve paid 275,000 in court and transferred 45,000 to her bank account via my friend`s account. She has again gone to court yesterday and asked to increase the court monthly installment, which the judge has agreed to. However, now I have 2 kids aged 20 years and 16 years and she only has 1 kid aged 7 years. Earlier, I was well earning and in the family business when the old ruling was passed but now, I separated from family and business and I now have a job where I earn 7000. What do I do?2025/01/03
