Can the victims’ families claim blood money from the insurance company of an intoxicated driver?
Q: Hello, A man was driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol in Dubai and made a sudden overtake, causing a motorbike rider to lose control and hit a streetlight, resulting in the deaths of both the rider and the passenger. The driver fled the scene and has now been sentenced to 1 year in jail and ordered to pay blood money of 200K per person by the court. Can this blood money be claimed from the driver’s insurance company, as he had third-party insurance, or does the insurance not hold liability under the law when the driver is proven to be under the influence of alcohol? What other options are available to the driver?

How to close a company with an expiring license and an inactive partner?
Q: Hi, I was part of a trading license that was used only for the visas of two partners, with no business activity. Now, the license is about to expire, and I need to close the company. The parents of the deceased partner are not cooperating, and the second partner is also not interested. Please help me understand how I can close this company, as one partner is dead and the other is not interested. I am left alone in this situation. What will happen if I don’t renew the license, and how can I get it canceled? Thanks!

How can I recover my money if the court fined the scammer but my lawyer says it's not possible?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I have been a victim of a scam. I already have a court order confirming that I was scammed, and the court has issued a fine of 250,000 AED for the scammer. However, my lawyer told me that the amount will go to the government. When I asked how we would proceed to recover my money, they claimed it’s not possible and that this is as far as they will assist me, leaving me on my own moving forward.

Any issues traveling to Dubai for work with a loan in Qatar?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I had a bank loan/credit card in Qatar back in 2015, which I paid off until I was there (March 2017). After losing my job, I was unable to secure a well-paid position to cover the remaining debts. Numerous agents from a collection agency contacted me, even threatening me with a travel ban in the GCC, legal action, etc. Now, I have received a job offer in Dubai, and I would like to accept it. Will I be arrested or face a travel ban for an unpaid debt when returning to the UAE?
Q: Hi, I left the UAE during COVID due to redundancy. I had an apartment in Sharjah, where they were unwilling to cancel my tenancy without penalties. Despite many requests, they refused, and I had no option but to leave the country due to very limited flights. Recently, when I checked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs app, I saw a financial criminal case pending against me, stating I am a most-wanted individual due to failure to pay financial sums. I sent a friend to check on the apartment, and they found that a case had been filed with around 29,000 AED due. I am now planning to visit the UAE for a job hunt. Will I be arrested upon arrival and sent to jail, or will they allow me to enter and impose a travel ban until I pay off the amount? Please advise!

How can I handle bounced cheque liability with my closed LLC company?
Q: Dear Experts, I had an LLC company in Dubai, and one of my suppliers filed a case against my company due to a bounced cheque. The cheque was signed by the former finance manager (who had POA just to sign the cheques). Now, this supplier has made the employee a party in the case alongside the company and imposed a travel ban on the signatory (finance manager). My company has been closed for the past year. I need your expert advice on this matter. First, I want to secure the release of my former employee, and then I need to know how to protect myself from this liability, as the company is closed and I do not have the funds to settle the liability. Q: Dear Lawyers, I’m a divorced mother with custody of my 4-year-old son from Dubai Courts. My colleague recently traveled to Turkey, and she was asked to provide an NOC from the child`s father. Should I visit the Evacuation Department in person to complete the eviction and get my keys?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I opened an execution case against my tenant who was not vacating the apartment and was not paying the rent. After the execution date, I received a report from the police that the apartment is being evacuated. However, when I created a "Request to follow up execution proceeding" e-request to complete the process and get the keys, my request was rejected with the message "على مقدم الطلب مراجعة قسم الاخلاء," which translates to "The applicant must refer to the Evacuation Department." So, do I need to personally visit the Evacuation Department? I am outside the UAE but can come to the UAE to get the keys. Or, do I need to create an e-request in a different category?+2

Can I charge my friend with breach of trust for not sending money from my property sale?
Q: Hello, I gave an online POA to my friend, who has a UAE residence visa, to sell my property. I gave another online POA to his brother to receive money on my behalf. I do not have a residence visa. They did not provide me with a copy of the POAs. He sold my property in JLT, and his brother received the money, but they did not send the money to me. Can I now open a case against them with the charge of "breach of trust" or any other charge that suits this case? Thanks a lot!
