Q: Hello, I am trying to get help in a complicated situation to assist my father-in-law on a few matters. Please note that some of my dates/years may not be accurate, however, I can get the exact dates if we plan to proceed with the legal case 1. My father-in-law purchased an apartment around 2014 in Dubai but he had never visited. He had given POA to an individual who worked for XYZ company. For the first couple of years, he received rent. 2. This individual stopped paying his rent for the past 3-4 years. He changed companies and we found the new company he was employed with. We were not able to pull the detailed Ejari records, however, we were able to see how much he had rented it for. 3. The developer bills were unpaid and some DEWA balances as well. 4. My FIL visited in May 2023 and paid all the pending bills. Suggesting new contract and rent after an eviction notice - Is this normal?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, My landlord recently gave me a mandatory legal notice for eviction with the intention to sell. Ideally, I have to move out in a few months, and then one of the secretaries of my landlord mentioned that they want to talk to me in person (not officially in chat or email). They mentioned that if I`m interested, I can stay with a new contract & new price. Basically what they`re saying is, since they`ve given me a notice, they want to treat me as a new tenant with a new price instead of sticking to the max 20% limit enforced by RERA for renewals. He also mentioned that even after this, they would give me a court notice again and a new price. This sounded crazy to me because it feels like a loophole to get rid of this RERA renewal restriction and they plan to kick anyone after a year. I`m planning to find a new place anyway because I need to secure a house for my family first before fighting wrongful eviction. But what would be my chances here? is this normal? أسئلة وأجوبة

How to appeal a civil case judgment if it was based on a forged document?
Q: Hi all professionals, I lost a civil case against a fraud immigration consultant based in Dubai on 14 March 2024. I was the plaintiff and I had paid AED 24600 to him for migrating to Canada. He submitted a forged document on 7 Dec 2023 with his memo. I replied to that and submitted the original document which I received from the government of Canada the same document which this company had forged. Despite that, the court gave the judgment based on the fake document submitted by the defendant, and it is the final judgment. How can I appeal as I have been told that I can`t file an appeal against this final judgment? How can a judge pass judgment on a fake document? Please advise. أسئلة وأجوبة

What if landlord didn't inform of rent increase and offer and deposit case rejected?
Q: Hi, My tenancy contract expired last week, and I filed an offer and deposit case with DLD because the landlord had not informed me of the rent increase 90 days earlier, and the RERA calculator also stated no rent increase was due. The offer and deposit case has been rejected due to no response from the landlord. What are the next steps? Do I need to file anything further? Thanks!

Can I claim compensation from my husband for emotional and physical abuse?
Q: Good day everyone. We got married under Sharia Law in Dubai Courts and it is now 3 years with no kids. I have been suffering and enduring physical and verbal abuse throughout the marriage. But I just continued to stay in the hopes that my husband would change. I never thought of divorce because I was blinded by love and the concept of keeping our marriage sacred and with respect. Now, my husband has filed for divorce and his reason is our marriage will not work because of what he did last year (adultery). I felt so blank because I am jobless at the moment and can`t work as I am suffering emotionally and mentally. He will just leave me like this. My last resort is to be compensated for the damages I got, emotionally and physically. For proof, I have WhatsApp messages, a police report of the physical abuse (case closed), and a paper that shows a booking with his name and a woman when he traveled to a different country (to which I found out about the adultery).
