Q: Hi, We sent a renewal notice to our Dubai-based tenant 84 days before his contract renewal, with a 10% increase in rent. The tenant neither agreed nor disagreed with the proposed rent and replied on the day of renewal that he wouldn`t be paying the proposed rent. Due to the argument, the landlord decided to reduce the rent, but the tenant has not yet renewed his contract. It has been 12 days since his contract expired. Q: Hello sir I am a 51-year-old expatriate. I have joined a company in Dubai under a limited contract and it’s been 4 months since my contract was signed. As it seems the company is not satisfied with my performance, they have told me verbally that they don’t need my services anymore. What can I do if my employer terminated me without a prior notice?
Q: Without any prior notification or warning letter, the company suddenly says today don`t come. We will terminate your employment. From today 30 days will be your notice period that will be paid. Your MOHRE contract date is 5 days after your termination. So no gratuity will be entitled. What do actual labor laws say? 1. Gratuity - they take MOHRE date. But the joining date is only to be calculated, am I correct? 2. Without written warning or notification, they cannot terminate me on the same day. The reason is due to no sales generated. 3. Because it is termination, I like to request to hold my visa until I find another job for 2 or 3 months. Is it possible? What does the law say? Q: Hi, My landlord sent me a legal notice informing me of his intention to sell the apartment. As a result, he will not be renewing the tenancy contract which ends on 31-07-2024. The legal notice is dated 21-02-2024. I am aware that as per RERA there needs to be a 12-month notice in such cases. Can wife's abusive messages compromise case against scammer?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, There`s a guy who scammed me out of 150k AED with false documents. There`s already a criminal case ongoing against him; however, I wasn`t aware of it at the time of the dealing. Every time I tried to sort things out with him, he made me wait for hours and didn`t show up. In short, he gave me false hopes, and now he`s been completely out of touch for 4 months. When we were finally able to contact him, my wife sent him abusive messages out of frustration because he was spreading lies about us. Now, with all the evidence I have, I want to file a civil case against him. Could the abusive messages my wife sent backfire in any way? I have all the documents he gave, along with some voice notes where he clearly states that he scammed us with false documents. But this guy is very shrewd. Q: Dear Sir/Madam, My employer signed an offer letter from a different company, adding a clause stating that if the employee resigns, he needs to give one month`s notice and refund AED 5000 as visa charges. However, I have already signed a contract from another company and received my EID, with no such clause mentioned.
