Is it legal to discuss maintenance of a child with the employer of my ex-husband?
Q: Hello. I would like to know if it is legal or illegal to contact my ex-husband`s HR dept due to his refusal to pay for child support since the birth of our child (Age 16 now). He lives and works in Dubai. I have remarried and have other children, moved to Abu Dhabi 1 1/2 yrs back and contacted him at his office. He has failed on every promise until now. Harassment by a husband
Q: Salam, I am in need of great help, I am asking my question through my sister as I don`t have access to my phone or internet. I am born an brought up in Dubai, and I am married with three kids and stay in Sharjah now. I am going through a lot of stress because of my husband. He threatens to hit me, he locks me up with my kids and goes to the office, he even took away my phone so I cannot contact my family, he asked me to cut off all the ties with my family members and they are also not allowed to meet me. He has installed a camera at home to keep an eye on me, he also had an affair with an Indonesian female, he threatens to send me to Pakistan with my kids, I really don`t want to go there as my whole family is here. My family cant help me because their financial condition is not very stable. My husband wants me to leave him so that he will not have to pay any alimony for me and my help. I have had a lot of health issues, I really need some help, I feel I will die due to depression.

كم يستغرق الحصول على تأشيرة عمل في الإمارات العربية المتحدة بعد قبولي لعرض العمل؟
س: مرحبًا، حصلت على عرض عمل ووقعت عليه. ينص عرض العمل على التالي: "حرر عرض العمل هذا من ثلاث نسخ موقعة من كلا الطرفين. يستلم كل طرف ويحتفظ بنسخة منها، وتقدم النسخة الثالة إلى وزارة العمل عن طريق الطرف الأول، وذلك للحصول على تصريح العمل." تضمن عرض العمل توقيع الطرف الأول، وبالنسبة لتوقيع الطرف الثاني تم كتابة اسمي، وقمت بالتوقيع. استلمت رسالة عرض العمل في سبتمبر 2017، ولكني لم أستلم التأشيرة إلى الآن. ما هي مدة صلاحية هذا الخطاب؟ هل سأحصل على التأشيرة؟ أم من الممكن أن توقف الشركة هذا الخطاب؟2017/11/04

What to do if the employer cannot pay your EOSB upon the visa cancellation
Q: I submitted my resignation and served my one-month notice. My company asked me to sign the cancellation papers, however, mentioned that they cannot pay End of Service Benefits now and that they will pay in future. As I am going back to my country permanently, what is the best way to get my due payments? I heard raising a complaint and the due procedure take months to settle.2017/11/04

What can I do if my employer is chasing me accusing of theft?
Q: Due to the harassment, I left the job and return to India without informing my company as if I told them they will not let me leave. But now they filed a case in the UAE that I have stolen AED 20000 from the company, and they also filed a case in India. Now they want to take me back to Dubai for further inquiry by filing a case in India and are demanding local police to send me back to Dubai. Please advise me.2017/11/02

Can my new employer withdraw the job offer if I go for a short leave to my country?
Q: Hi, I was working in the UAE with a construction company and got a new job offer from another company. I signed that offer letter and also cancelled from the old company. The offer letter was signed by both parties. Now I want to go to my country but the company is saying that there is no need to go as my company visa will be changed here. But I have to go for some personal reasons. If I go to my country is there any problem for my new job? Can the company withdraw my job offer? Please tell me any solution of this.2017/11/02

هل يمكنني أن أرفض عرض عمل قمت بقبوله بالفعل قبل التوقيع على أوراق وزارة العمل؟

Deferring the hearing of a labour case till deciding on a criminal case
Q: Suppose the employer finds out that the employee has been contacting his clients, and selling vendor products to such clients and accepting money. This has been captured in a CCTV footage, submitted to the police and the case is being under investigation. Now, the employee does not report to work and files a case in the MOL for overtime and not salary, as the salary is paid on time and payslips are signed by the employee. Since based on the final judgement, all the benefits for the employee may be nullified as per article 4 of the preamble, can the employer request the MOL to defer the hearing in the case till a final judgement is received in the police case? Pleases advise if any other means can be taken.2017/11/02
