What to do against a claim from Etisalat for bills despite failing service?
Q: Dears I took a wireless account from Etisalat and they were not giving the service properly so I asked them on 3rd day they told me to do troubleshooting by application but still it was the same. Then I contacted them to cancel the account on the 5th day but they said I need to get a technical complaint number which I was not getting from them. So I called the salesperson and he came to my home and changed it with the landline and told me that he will cancel the wireless account in 3 months. After 5 months, Etisalat came back to me and asked for payments and told me that if I do not pay, they will block all my other connections even though I didn’t receive any invoice or reminder from Etisalat. Now the legal team of Etisalat sent me the below email: • Negative impact on your credit score with the Al Etihad Credit Bureau of UAE limiting your access to credit facilities with banks and financial institutions. • Limited opportunities in setting up a business in the UAE. • Limited job opportunities. Denied renewal and short notice to move, What can a tenant do?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I have renewed my lease contract for 5 months. It expires on July 6th, 2023. It has this clause "This contract is not renewable". I have asked the landlord to have a new contract for 7 months in order to complete the 1-year rent. He declined and said that he has the intention of selling the house and I should leave by the expiry date. It is 68 days before expiry. Should he give me 12 months` notice? Or what is the effect of that "not renewable" clause?

Can I refuse the rental increase if the landlord did not mention it in the notice?
Q: Hi, I have been provided with a 90-day notice regarding my renewal but the amount was not mentioned (told over the phone that it will be 1000 more than the previous year). However, when I tried to renew my contract, they told me that the rent has been increased by 4200 more than the previous year. I have read somewhere that if I am not given a notice wherein the rental increase amount is not mentioned in a written document, I will be able to renew with the same contract as the previous year. How should I file for that?

Unfinished motorcycle repairs and unfair fees at a workshop: What to do?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, My motorcycle was taken to a motorcycle workshop for repairs due to a coolant leak. After examining the bike, they provided me with a quote and later informed me that the oil and water had mixed, necessitating an engine flush. Although hesitant, I trusted their expertise and paid an initial fee of 5900 AED. Unfortunately, it has been two months since the deposit was paid, and the repairs are still unfinished. When I recently followed up with them, they informed me that the bike lacked compression and power and needed new piston parts. This seems implausible since the engine was running smoothly before the rebuild. It appears that the mechanic did not properly assemble the engine initially, and now they want to charge me an additional 10000 AED to fix their mistake. They continue to increase the cost and make excuses for the delay, even though it should not take three months to rebuild an engine. What are my options?

What happens when trying to settle a marital dispute?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I got divorced 2 years ago, and now my ex-wife has registered a "Marital Matters Non-Muslim" lawsuit against me. It is currently in the "friendly settlement" stage at the "Correction and Guidance Department" under the control of a "reformer family counselor." Question 1: I have heard that there are two types of settlement attempts. The first attempt is made to settle, and if settlement is not reached, no further action is taken. The second attempt is made to settle, and if settlement is not reached, the litigants are given a paper authorizing them to start a lawsuit in the personal status court. Which of these types of settlement attempts does this current lawsuit fall under? Question 2: Is it possible to claim lack of jurisdiction at this stage? The matter that my ex-wife has raised is related to a loan that I gave her. Loans are not controlled by personal status law, even if the loan was between spouses.2023/04/26

Do I need to send a new eviction notice to the tenant if the previous owner sent him one?
Q: I bought a home in September 2022. The previous owner has given an eviction notice to the tenant in July 2022. The eviction notice mentions the date of 31st July 2023 for eviction. After I bought it, I did not give any fresh notice to the tenant. There was a verbal agreement that the tenant will leave the place by 31st July 2023. Now the tenant is mentioning that he believes a fresh notice needs to be given with another 12 months` notice. س: مرحبًا، أنا موجود في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة وتحديدًا في دبي. منذ فترة أجريت مقابلة عمل في شركة تعمل في مجال السفر والسياحة وتم الاتفاق على الراتب والمُسمَّى الوظيفي. كان الراتب المذكور مناسبًا وصاحب العمل أخبرني أنه سيرسل عرض العمل. مع العلم أنه كانت هناك فرصة عمل أخرى واعتذرت عنها بسبب هذا العرض. فوجئت أن صاحب الشركة يطلب مني متطلبات لكي أبدأ ممارسة الوظيفة؛ حيث أن لديه نظام معلومات بأسماء الزبائن وأرقامهم ويخاف من سرقته، وبغرض الحماية، طلب مني شيك تأمين بقيمة 100 ألف درهم إماراتي، وقال إن هذا الشيك سيكون تأمين في حالة عدم احترامي لقواعد الشركة أو اختراق بياناتها، وفي حال أنني قدمت استقالتي، فإن هذا الشيك سيبقى معهم لمدة سنة. ما رأي القانون في هذا الموضوع؟ وهل أستطيع طلب تعويض؟ يُرجى العلم أن لدي نسخة من عرض العمل.
