I have unpaid bank loan and credit cards in Dubai and got a job offer from Kuwait. Can I go there?
I have a bank loan in Dubai of AED 20000 and two credit cards from different banks (5000+5000), and the total is AED 30000.
The liability is in Dubai. I left Dubai 10 years ago. Now I have a job offer from Kuwait.
Can I go there?

Hello,
I hope you are doing well.
This is from Fawzia Mohd Lawyers and Legal Consultancy. Thank you for reaching out.
Since the debt is over 10 years old, it's possible that the banks may not actively pursue it anymore, but it depends on whether any legal action or case was filed in your absence.
Traveling to Kuwait shouldn’t be an issue, but re-entering the UAE might carry some risk if there’s an active case.
For detailed legal advice and to check your legal status in the UAE, please contact us by phone or email to book a consultation.
Normally, restrictions imposed in one country have effect only in the country itself unless it is a GCC ban.
There's no central blacklist accessible to all immigration authorities in real-time for all types of debt, your debt could potentially flag you, especially if the banks have taken legal action in UAE.
While considering the amount, the restrictions will be applicable only in UAE.
If you need further clarification we will discuss more. Kindly share your WhatsApp number to proceed.
Dear Inquirer

Under UAE law, if you left Dubai 10 years ago, you are likely beyond the statute of limitations for most debts. However, it’s still advisable to verify the status of your liabilities.
Our legal center specializes in these cases, and you can contact us via WhatsApp for further details and legal support.
We are honored to provide you with specialized legal support for your case.
If you have any further inquiries regarding your matter, we would be happy to assist you.
Dear Questioner,
Thank you for your inquiry.
To confirm whether you have a travel ban in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE, or in GCC we can assist you with a comprehensive check for civil and criminal cases.
Required Steps:
Before we can initiate the legal process of a travel ban check, we will require a Power of Attorney (POA) to represent you before government authorities and police stations.
To facilitate the notarization of the POA, please provide the following documents:
- A copy of your old and new passports
- A copy of your visa
- A copy of your Emirates ID
Once we receive these documents by email, we will draft the POA in both English and Arabic and send it to you for review, signature, and return.
Afterward, the POA will be submitted to the federal Notary Public for notarization. The notary will provide a link for a remote meeting with you, during which your original passport will be verified, and you will sign electronically.
Costs and Process:
- Notary Fees: USD 165 (paid directly to the notary). You will receive a digital copy of the notarized POA.
- Legal Fees for Travel Ban Check: USD 325. Once the notarized POA is received, we will check the UAE criminal record system for any criminal cases, travel bans, arrest warrants, or execution files registered against your name. This process typically takes about four working days.
We are here to assist you every step of the way. Please let us know if you have any questions or require further clarification.
Sincerely,
Mohammad Salah

Hello,
Your outstanding debts in Dubai will not directly affect your ability to live or work in Kuwait.
Kuwait does not have a legal framework in place for enforcing UAE debts or travel bans related to debts in the UAE.
