How can I remove a travel ban after guaranteeing a friend's cheque execution?
Dear Lawyers,
I stood as a guarantor for a person who had a cheque execution and a travel ban. As a good friend, I guaranteed his travel at the Dubai court. However, a travel ban was imposed on me.
He traveled and returned to Dubai but has not settled the case, and the travel ban remains on me. How can I remove the travel ban?
Please help!
Hello,
When you stood as a guarantor, you essentially took on the responsibility for the other person's debt. If they fail to fulfill their obligations, the legal consequences fall on you.
Gather all relevant documents, including the guarantee agreement, any court documents, and communication related to the cheque case.
We will be submitting a formal request to the court to release you from these obligations. We will discuss the procedures in detail.
Kindly share your WhatsApp number to proceed.
Dear Questioner,
Thank you for your inquiry!
Based on the information provided, I understand that a travel ban has been imposed on you due to standing as a guarantor for a person involved in a cheque execution case. To resolve the issue of the travel ban, here are the steps that can be taken:
- Settling the Debt:
The most effective way to remove the travel ban is for the individual you guaranteed to settle the outstanding debt or resolve the legal case. Once the debt is cleared or the case is resolved, the travel ban can be lifted.
- Paying the Debt on Behalf of him:
As the guarantor, you are legally responsible for the debt. If the debtor is unable or unwilling to settle the matter, you may choose to pay the debt yourself. Once the payment is made, you can submit proof to the court to request the removal of the travel ban.
- Requesting the Court’s Assistance:
If the debtor is uncooperative or unable to pay, we can file a petition with the Dubai Court requesting the removal of the travel ban. The court will consider the evidence of settlement or a reasonable payment plan in order to lift the travel restriction.
- Legal Advice and Negotiation:
I recommend that we assess the total outstanding liability and consider negotiating a settlement with the creditor or court. In some cases, partial payments can lead to the temporary removal of the travel ban while the remaining debt is resolved.
I would be happy to assist you further in drafting any required documents or representing you in discussions with the court or creditors.
Please let me know how you would like to proceed or if you'd prefer to schedule a meeting for further assistance.

Greetings of the day,
To remove the travel ban imposed on you, you will need to resolve the underlying issue with the case for which you stood as a guarantor.
Since the person you guaranteed has not settled the case, it is crucial to either pay the owed amount or reach a settlement with the creditor.
Once the debt or case is resolved, you can request the court to lift the travel ban. It is advisable to hire a legal professional to assist in negotiating with the creditor or court and to guide you through the process of having the ban lifted.
