Can I resign from a new job after just 5 days without submitting a resignation letter?

Dear Sir,

I just joined a company 5 days ago. I signed a standard job offer on plain paper. However, I do not understand the work and am planning to leave the company.

Can anyone please suggest if I can easily leave this company, or do I need to submit a written resignation letter?

Welcome,

If you've been with the company for 5 days and want to leave, it's best to submit a formal resignation letter.

Even if there’s no official contract, it's important to handle it professionally. You may need to notify the company even if there’s no specific notice period.

Also, make sure to complete any exit formalities, such as returning company property.

In short, submitting a written resignation letter is the best approach to leave the company on good terms.

Kindly contact us via phone or email for further assistance!

Greetings,

According to UAE labor law, an employee can resign from their job at any time by giving notice to their employer. The notice period is usually 30 days, but it can be longer if stated in the employment contract.

In your case, since you have only been with the company for 5 days, it is unlikely that you will have to give a 30-day notice.

However, it is important to check your employment contract to see if there is any mention of a notice period.

If there is no mention of a notice period, you can simply inform your employer of your decision to resign and provide a written resignation letter.

This letter should include your name, position, and the date of your last day of work. It is also recommended to thank your employer for the opportunity and express your willingness to assist with the transition process.

It is important to note that if you have signed a limited contract, you may be required to pay a penalty for breaking the contract.

This penalty is usually equivalent to 45 days of your salary. However, if you have signed an unlimited contract, you will not be required to pay any penalty.

In any case, it is best to consult with a legal professional or your company's HR department for specific guidance on your situation.

They will be able to advise you on the proper procedure for resigning and any potential consequences.

Best Regards,

You can leave the company relatively easily given the short duration of your employment.

However, it is advisable to submit a written resignation letter after first communicating verbally with your supervisor.

As you have not signed any other official contract, such as an MOHRE contract, you can leave the company without complications.

It would be better to inform the company that you will not be continuing with them.

If you need further clarification, kindly share your WhatsApp number.
