Filing a civil case for cheque bounce to recover dues
My gratuity cheque bounced and I made a complaint to the police, but the person paid a fine and I did not get my money.
What should I do? And if I have to make a civil case, how much it will cost?

Dear Sir/ Madam,
Thank you for getting in touch with me on this.
Please note that in case of a police case pursuant to cheque bounce, the police/ court shall apply a travel ban on the signatory of the cheque and only levy a fine for a bounced cheque. Your amount shall not be recovered from this police case.
To recover the dues, you will have to file a civil case before Dubai Court or Settlement Center depending on the amount involved.
To file a civil case, you will need to showcase the transactions under which this cheque was given. In simple terms- why, how and for what cheque was given to you.
The court fee shall be 6% of the claim amount and legal fees will depend on the complexity and quantum involved. Upon successful judgement, you will be able to recover the whole dues along with 9% legal interest.
I trust now you have a better understanding of the civil and criminal cases.
