Offer letter says 4000 AED, but labor contract shows only 1900 AED—what should I do?
Dear Lawyers,
In my offer letter, my salary is mentioned as 4000 AED, but in the contract, they mentioned a basic salary of 1200 AED and a total salary of 1900 AED.
What can I do now?

Dear Inquirer,
In the UAE, the terms of your employment contract are legally binding, but discrepancies between your offer letter and your contract can be problematic. Here’s what you can do:
- Review Both Documents:
Carefully review both the offer letter and the employment contract to understand the terms and conditions in each.
- Discuss with Your Employer:
Approach your employer or HR department to discuss the discrepancy. Show them the offer letter and ask for clarification on why the contract reflects different terms.
- File a Complaint with MOHRE:
If your employer does not resolve the issue, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).
They can investigate the matter and help enforce the terms of your offer letter if they were agreed upon in good faith. It is best to have a lawyer present to prevent any risks that may occur.
If you need further clarification, you can contact us.
Greetings,
Simply do not accept or sign the contract. If they started with dishonesty, they likely won't even give you the 1900 dirhams.
You can file a complaint against them with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization.
For further inquiries about your topic, you can come to our office or contact us via phone, WhatsApp, or email.
Dear Inquirer,
We are pleased to serve you and address your inquiries.
A contract is an agreement between two parties, so there must be consent and agreement between the two parties and they have the freedom to do so
