Q: Dear Sir/ Madam. I am working in Sharjah on a limited contract as a chemical engineer. Since last month, my company started to use some illegal chemical. So I sent an email and warned them to stop that. However, in response, they abused and threatened me. In this environment, I resigned from the job with a 6-week notice and continued doing my duties as normal. I have a doubt that after the notice period they might refuse to cancel my visa or delay the cancellation. Please advise me what can I do in this situation. I also mentioned in resignation that the reason for leaving is due to the illegal activities of the company.

Q: Hi, Sir. Good evening. My name is Sanal and I have a question. My current employer is a lady and she is harassing me too much. Now, I'm nearly three years with her and every time she harasses me. She says I will complain about you in the immigration and put you in jail. I make u a big problem like that, not only me in my company but there are other employees also struggling the same situation. Until now three years, we are afraid of her and we are silent. Now, she realises we are not going to continue in this company and she wants to make a problem for us. It's simple, she doesn't want to pay us in ten months and our visa is going to finish so she starts t make issues for us. I need your help, Sir

س: السلام عليكم، الشركة التي أعمل بها أبلغتنا في نهاية الشهر الماضي أن حالتها المادية في تدهور والحل تسريح الموظفين، ويجب علينا تقديم الاستقالة والتنازُل عن كافه الحقوق. رفضنا ذلك. بعدها أُخطرنا عبر الإيميل أن موقع الشركة سيتم تغييره وسيتم إخطاركم بالموقع الجديد في إشعار آخر، والعمل يكون عن بُعد. حتى الآن لم يُصرَف لنا راتب الشهر الماضي. ما الإجراءات اللازمة للحصول على راتبي؟ وماذا أفعل في حال أردت الاستقالة؟

س: طاب يومك، كانت مديرتي تصرخ في وجهي، وتُهينني وتتحرش بي وتتنمر عليّ وتشتمني عبر الهاتف لمدة ساعتين. وسبب كل هذا مرضي الشديد حيث أنني أرسلت لها طلب إجازة مرضية. أعلم أنه لا يحق لي تسجيل المحادثة الهاتفية وفقًا لقانون دولة الإمارات، ولكنني كنت في المنزل حيث أعيش بمفردي ولم يكن لديّ شاهد في لحظة المحادثة الهاتفية. في الوقت الحالي تُنكر المديرة ما هو مذكور أعلاه. ماذا يجب عليّ أن أفعل في مثل هذا الموقف؟ شكرًا لك.

Q: I worked as a Graphic Designer at a document-clearing service provider company three months ago. During my employment, I was not paid for more than a month. When I inquired about the payment, my employer shouted at me and canceled my work permit on the same day without any notice. Additionally, she sent a fake email from my official email account to herself apologizing for some unlawful act. She called me to come and sort out my remaining dues, but instead, she misguided me to physically resign, which was a big mistake on my part as an employee. Now, I would like to know what documentary evidence is required to file a complaint. I look forward to your prompt response. I have all emails and other correspondences except the resignation copy I submitted physically. Is it possible to complain while outside the UAE because as per policy, I had to exit the UAE in order to change my status? I also kept snapshots of WhatsApp when she was harassing me.

The provisions of this Law, known as "UAE Labour Law", govern the relationship between employers and employees and other labour matters in the United Arab Emirates. There are special labour related regulations applicable in some of the free zones in the UAE.

This Decree sets the rules and conditions for the termination of fixed-term (limited) or unlimited (not term-bound) employment contract between employer and worker in the United Arab Emirates.

The provisions of this Decree-Law, known as "New UAE Labor Law", govern labour relations in the private sector of the United Arab Emirates. The New Labor Law repeals the previous UAE Labor Law (Federal Law No. (8) of 1980).
