Extradition of criminals in accordance with the Riyadh Arab Treaty

Hi,

I have 3 loans in UAE banks since 2016 and I lost my job due to issues. I went back to my country in Jordan and they called me in Jordan to pay the money.

I am getting treated for cancer and I cannot afford a penny. I got a job now in Muscat, Oman.

Can they know I am here and arrest me? What are the actions?

I was told after 3 years the file will be closed in the banks.

Plus, I was told I cannot open a bank account in Oman, is that true? Am I in danger?

Peace Mercy and Blessings of God,

Greeting of Right and Arabism,

Dear Sir,

The answer to your question in general is as follows:

In accordance with Article (41) of the Arab Riyadh Convention on Judicial Cooperation, which was ratified by the United Arab Emirates, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman:

"Extradition shall be obligatory for the following persons:

(A) The person charged with acts punishable under the laws of each of the contracting parties - the applicant for extradition and the person required to extradite - shall be liable to a one-year deprivation of liberty or a more severe penalty in the law of either party - whichever is the maximum and minimum penalty.

(D) Whoever has been sentenced in absentia by the courts of the requesting Contracting Party to an offence not punishable by the laws of the Contracting Party required to be extradited or by an equivalent penalty in his law if he is a national of the Contracting Party requesting extradition or of another Contracting Party ".

So yes, the banks in the UAE can claim your extradition from the Sultanate of Oman through Interpol because you are a Jordanian citizen who has committed a crime in the UAE and it's punishable by the laws of the UAE and Jordan.

I suggest that you hire an Emirati lawyer to defend you in the UAE and prove your innocence or offer a settlement with the UAE banks.

Yours sincerely,
