The minimum amount that the creditor can request to get a travel ban against the debtor
Can a creditor require a travel ban on a federal level in a lawsuit against the debtor if the collection amount is lower than AED 100,000?
Yes. Pursuant to the provisions of Article 188 of the Regulations of the Federal Civil Procedures Law No. 11 of 1992, the basis for issuing a travel ban order is the existence of serious reasons for fearing the debtor’s flight, provided that the debt is not less than 10 thousand dirhams unless it is established alimony or a commitment to work or abstention from work.
Dear questioner,
A creditor can impose a travel ban against the debtor even if the debt amount is AED 10,000 (the minimum required amount).
Furthermore, kindly note that a travel ban is on a federal level and applies to all of the Emirates and not just one.
Regards.
