Q: I worked for my previous company based in TECOM, Dubai (Free Zone) for 3 years, during which period we had a lot of salary delays and got accumulated over time.
By the time I resigned, 4 months and around 3 weeks salary were pending along with my settlement amount. Usually, all the amount need to be settled before the visa gets cancelled.
But they convinced me (verbally), since there is no cash with the company at the time, that they would pay my pending amount as and when the salary is processed for the rest of the company.
For that, they gave me a signed letter mentioning the total amount that the company owes me; but since my departure, 2 salaries have been processed in the company and I am yet to receive any.
I have been regularly following up with them by mail and have only received "wait" response so far. Does this amount to cheating from their end? What are my legal options?
Note: The company has been sued before for similar cases regarding payments by ex-employees / suppliers.

Q: I submitted my resignation and served my one-month notice. My company asked me to sign the cancellation papers, however, mentioned that they cannot pay End of Service Benefits now and that they will pay in future.
As I am going back to my country permanently, what is the best way to get my due payments? I heard raising a complaint and the due procedure take months to settle.

Employer's maneuvering to escape paying the end of service benefits

Q: I am the only employee in the company and my job included sales, marketing, accounting, administration and delivery.
I worked using my own personal desktop, phone, internet connection and car since the company has not provided any. I started work in this Free Zone company on Dec 1, 2014, under unlimited contract and on my husband's visa.
I have resigned last Dec 11, 2017, and served my 30 days’ notice period last Jan 11, 2018. My employer was supposed to pay the final settlement on my last day but then she re-scheduled to meet on Jan 14, then on January 16 and lastly on Jan 18.
Just before the day of agreed final settlement, she accused me that all my previous work emails have been allegedly deleted. She filed a complaint of Breach of Contract on Jan 18 and I also filed a complaint about her delay in paying my end of service benefits.
She has continuously intimidated me with her plans to file it in court. These false allegations have caused me and my family emotional distress.
Please advise.

لقد كنت أعمل مع شركة لمدة 5 سنوات ونصف. ثم تقدمت بطلب استقالة (مع فترة إشعار مدتها شهر واحد وفقًا لعقدي) وأنهيت عملي في 30 يونيو 2018.
اتصل بي المدير بعد شهر وطلب مني التوقيع على ورقة "ما قبل الإنهاء". عندما سألت عن دفع مكافآتي، ذكر أنه يمكنني الحصول عليها في غضون شهر أو شهرين، وإن لم أستلمها بعد ذلك، فلا يزال لدي أسباب للشكوى التي يمكنني تقديمها إلى وزارة العمل.
ومع ذلك، لا زلت أرفض التوقيع على أي ورقة. ثم أخبروني بعد ذلك أنهم سيتصلون بي وقتما يصبح الشيك جاهزًا.
سؤالي هو:
- هل ما قمت به من رفض التوقيع على أية أوراق هو عمل صحيح مع الأخذ في الاعتبار أنه لم يكن لدي أي ضمانة باستلام مكافأة نهاية الخدمة؟
- بما أنني أيضًا لا أزال أبحث عن وظيفة في الوقت الحالي (وأريد حل الأمور بطريقة ودية)، هل هو خيار مناسب بالنسبة لي أن أقوم ببساطة بالانتظار حتى يتصل بي مرة أخرى بخصوص الإلغاء ومكافأة نهاية الخدمة؟

تلقينا خطابات بإخطار مدته 30 يومًا لإنهاء العقد. انتهى العقد في 18 أكتوبر 2018.
جعلتنا الشركة نوقع على خطاب أجازة بدون راتب، تحسبًا في حالة استلام المزيد من العمل. طلب من مغادرة الإمارات.
نحن لا نزال ننتظر أن يتم دفع مستحقات نهاية الخدمة لنا. توفر لنا الشركة إقامة ولكن لا توجد أموال لنفقات المعيشة.
ماذا يجب أن نفعل؟

Visa cancellation upon expiry of labor contract

Q: Hi,
I am an employee in an LLC company and my contract is going to expire on 19 June 2021. Can you please guide me about the timeline for my current employer to cancel my visa as I have to join another company on 20th June 2021?
My current visa will expire on 24 July 2021. Is it legal to work after the contract expiry? Can my current employer force me to do that?

I recently joined a new organization in the Hamriyah Free Zone, and my previous organization has not released my end-of-service benefits.
The HR has instructed the finance team not to do so because I had contacted one of their clients.
In my DMCC contract, there is no Non-Compete clause, but the offer letter has one, and now they are not releasing the end-of-service.
Is this legal? What are my rights?

I have multiple cheque execution cases filed against me due to financial strains last year.
My trade license and visa will expire next month, along with my Emirates ID.
Is it possible for me to renew my license and visa along with EID prior to settling the execution cases?
The trade license and visa were issued by the free zone authority.

How to file a case against my former company for unpaid salary I was not on their visa? 0
Dear Legal Advice Middle East,
I hope you are well.
I am seeking legal advice regarding an unpaid salary issue with my former employer, [-----]2 LLC. I was employed with them from December 4, 2024, to January 7, 2025, on a monthly salary of 5,000 AED.
However, I only received a partial payment of 2,473 AED on February 24, 2025. The remaining 2,527 AED is still unpaid.
I submitted a complaint to MOHRE on March 2, 2025, but I am unable to proceed further through their official channels.
This is because I was working under the visa of my previous employer, [---] LLC, and not under [----]’s sponsorship.
As a result, I do not meet the criteria to file a labor complaint via the MOHRE app or hotline.
Given this situation, I would appreciate your guidance on how I can legally pursue the recovery of my remaining salary, considering the complications related to my visa status during the employment.

How can we claim our money back if the cheque we received have bounced for insufficient funds? 0
We received a cheque which has now bounced. We have tried for over a month and a half now to get a new cheque from the person, and every day he says the next day.
We need the money now. We have been to the police station, and they said they can not do anything as the reason the cheque bounced is "Insufficient funds."
We have been to Al Barsha - Dubai Courts, and they said there is nothing they can do about it.
We are not sure what we can do. We need the money asap to pay our kids' school fees, let alone all the interest we have lost.
