Notice period applied in free zones

I have been working in JLT free zone (DMCC) company.

As per my employment contract with the company, the notice period is 90 days. However, as per the law, the notice period is 30 days.

Could you please advise me which period will prevail in this case?

NOTICE PERIOD: Under the UAE Labour Law applicable to the mainland, an employment contract can be terminated by giving at least (30 days) a thirty-day prior written notice.

The actual notice period may vary according to what is mentioned in your contract (as in some cases 90-day notice is mentioned in the contract which must be honoured).

Both the employer and the employee must honour their obligations throughout the notice period i.e. the employer must pay for the notice period and the employee must work during the notice period.

Serving the notice period is mandatory unless the employer waives it, and allows the worker to leave the job within the said period (of course pays the employee for the notice period).

If the employee fails to work within the notice period, he might lose his rights under the labour law and the employer may apply to the Ministry of Labour to impose a one-year labour ban on the worker.
