Avoiding a labour ban upon resignation during probation period
I am in my probation period. My visa is a free-zone visa and my contract is an unlimited contract.
The company is giving me additional work which is out of my job description due to the resignation of an old employee.
I am really struggling to complete all the responsibilities including mine and that of the ex-employee.
Can I resign without getting a labour ban? Do I need to pay them anything?

If you have a visa and DID NOT complete one year of service, an automatic six months or one-year labour ban may be imposed by the Ministry of Labour upon request by your employer.
No employment visa shall be issued to you until the period of the ban is completed.
Please check with your free zone.
Listed below are certain cases when a labour ban MAY NOT be imposed:
- Expatriates who are sponsored by their spouse for a residence visa
- Expatriate workers moving into a government job will not be banned
- MOVING TO THE SAME FREE TRADE ZONE
- Employees who work in an oil company may not be banned
- Expatriates who have completed a fixed term contract, and have submitted proper resignation notice
- Expatriates who have completed the one-year term of an unlimited contract, AND hold a NOC from the current employer
- Expatriates who have worked for a company for more than three years on an unlimited contract.
