Takeover
An offer made by tender setting out a proposal by one company to purchase the shares of another company, in order to acquire control of it. Takeovers can be ‘friendly’ or ‘hostile’. A ‘friendly’ takeover is an acquisition that is approved by the management. Before a bidder makes an offer for another company, it usually first informs the company’s board of directors. If the board of directors considers that accepting the offer best serves the shareholders, it recommends that the offer be accepted. A ‘hostile’ takeover allows the bidder to take over a company whose management is unwilling to agree. The takeover becomes hostile the moment the board of directors rejects the offer but the bidder continues to pursue it. Questions & Answers

Paying a police fine from outside the UAE
Q: Dear, I left Dubai on 04/2019. I had a credit card with a bank as well as a savings plan. When I found out that the savings plan wasn`t as my account manager said it was, stubborn as I am, I hold my CC payments back. I had AED 120K on my savings plan and the money is gone. Nevertheless, by law, I have to pay my CC which I currently do, and only a small amount is left to pay. The bank filed a police case on 09/2019. I asked and paid a colleague lawyer to solve the issue for me. But when he visited the prosecutor at the police station, he was told that I have to come personally to pay the fine and sign. Q: How to settle home finance in UAE which is now under default? I bought a property in Dubai in 2007 through a bank financing the same. I had been paying my installments on time since I lost my job in 2012. Even after losing my job and leaving Dubai, I kept paying the installments until 2017. But after that, due to my financial situation, I stopped paying for the same. Q: Dear Sirs, Ramadan Mubarak to you. I am writing to inquire about the following. I bought an apartment in Dubai in 2016. The handover was to be in 2020 but the project is still not completed. I paid the first 5 installments but then I had a financial problem so I could not pay in 2018 and 2019 installments totaling AED 140,000.
