Q: Hello,
I'm a 23 years old college student, Jordanian living in the UAE. I want to know whether it is legally permitted for a father to ban his daughter from going to her university because she decided to take off her hijab/head scarf.
Thank you
Q: Hi,
I've been facing harassment from both my parents and I am 23 years old. I am not being treated as an adult whatsoever. They are causing mental and emotional issues.
What can I do for the case of my freedom?
Q: I am UAE national living in Ras al Khaimah 29 years old female. I have graduated in 2005 and because of my mom health I could not work or study as I kept travelling with mom for her treatment.
Last year mom passed away and I came back with my brother. He insults me and forces me to work as a servant at home. No phone, no job and even shoun that government gives me, he took all that month. He said no shoun had come last month. I know there is shoun, he bought a phone for me just to not araise complaint against him.
I want to do a job, he refused. All that years I ignored about my life but when I want he refused. Now he took my passport, ID, health card.
How can laws help me to get a job?
Q: I am an American living in the UAE.
I need to leave the country but I can't leave because my visa is sponsored by my father who is refusing to cancel it.
What do I do?
UAE Constitution was adopted in 1971 and contains basic rules of the political and constitutional organization of the State. The system of governance is monarchic with the exception that there is a federal head. Islam is the State religion and Islamic Sharia is the main source of legislation.
UAE Personal Status Law (also known as Personal Affairs Law) governs marriage, divorce, inheritance and other personal affairs in the United Arab Emirates. The law equally applies to citizens of the UAE and non-citizens unless one of them asks for the application of his home country law.
