Withholding security deposit cheque after vacating the premises
My landlord has been assuring of returning the deposit for almost a year. Every time I call him, he assures he would call soon regarding this, but never called back.
I vacated the flat in March 2018 after paying all the due. I stayed in the same flat for about 6-7 years, and in the middle building, the ownership got changed too.
Is there any way I can get my money back without indulging my self into a court case?

Dear Sir/ Madam,
Thank you for getting in touch with me on this.
I understand that you are in this sticky situation wherein the landlord is not willing to release your security deposit even after you have handed over peaceful possession of the premises.
You can explore sending a legal notice to the landlord (without going to a court case) demanding return of your security deposit.
This legal notice ought to be sent via notary public. If the landlord yet fails to honour the demand, then you have an option to file for a court case.
However, there are bright chances that the landlord shall make the payment considering the notice is coming from a UAE court.
In the end, its your prerogative to file a court case to retrieve your legal dues or not. I would suggest that you commence with a legal notice and build the pressure on the landlord to make the payment.
I trust you will find this appropriate.
