The procedure of ending a limited employment contract and notice period

Good day

I would like to know what's the law when I am cancelling my limited contract which is already 1 and a half year completed.

Is there any notice period?

Dear Questioner,

A limited contract is a fixed-term contract usually for two or three years and will expire at the end of its term.

You have mentioned in your question that you have worked under the limited contract for one and a half years and you would like to know the notice period.

For limited-term contracts, an employee cannot terminate the contract before its expiry without the employer's consent.

If your limited contract is for two years, it would be in your best interest to wait until the contract expires rather than breaching your contract and resigning early, as you could be liable to compensate your employer for early termination as well as receiving an employment ban.
