Questions & Answers
I have a case and travel ban in public prosecution after I ran over a person's foot. How long does it take?
Hi,
I want to inquire about a police case.
In October 2024, I was involved in a minor accident while reversing my car out of a parking space, during which I accidentally ran over a person's foot.
The individual later withdrew the case at the police station, and the case report was subsequently forwarded to the Dubai Public Prosecution.
It has been over two weeks since I last visited the Public Prosecution (I have visited three times), yet the case number has not been issued.
Could you kindly advise on how long it typically takes for the court to issue a verdict in such cases so that my travel ban can be lifted?
Your guidance and assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Dear questioner
We need to check the case file number to advise you on the matter.
Generally, for an accident case with minor injuries, it will take 2 to 3 weeks or even a month. There will be only fines and no major punishments or travel ban if the offense is not major in type.
If you need further assistance, kindly share your Whatsapp number.
We understand your concerns.
Hence the opposite party has withdrawn the case it will not constitute a serious crime. You have to follow up with the authorities regularly.
The time to issue a verdict on such cases will be based on the investigation. In normal circumstances 2-3 weeks.
If they are not providing a proper response, it will be better if you seek the assistance of a lawyer for the same.
We will discuss this further in detail. Kindly share your WhatsApp number to proceed.

Thank you for your inquiry.
In minor traffic cases like yours, the timeline for processing at the Public Prosecution can vary depending on their caseload and the nature of the incident.
Since you mentioned that the complaint was withdrawn and the matter is with the Public Prosecution, it is crucial to follow up consistently with the relevant authorities to expedite the issuance of the case number.
Delays can sometimes occur due to administrative procedures. If you would like further assistance, I can directly follow up with the authorities on your behalf.
I would need the complaint number and the details of the police station handling the report. Once the case is resolved, the travel ban will be lifted, but it is important to verify its status periodically.
Please share the required information to proceed or contact me via WhatsApp or email.
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.
The processing time for your case can vary, but Dubai courts have reduced the average case completion time to 96 days.
Your case is still at the public prosecution stage, which precedes court proceedings. Continue following up regularly with the public prosecution and consult with us for proper guidance.
The travel ban is likely to remain until the case is fully resolved. Ensure all required documents are readily available and be patient as the process unfolds.
For any further discussion, you can WhatsApp us. We have an extensive team of knowledgeable and experienced lawyers to provide the legal assistance you need.
We will be happy to help you.
Thanks & Regards,

It is necessary to follow up on the report continuously and submit a request to refer the report to the Public Prosecution.
So contact us on the phone.
Under UAE law, if the individual withdrew the complaint and the case was forwarded to the Public Prosecution, it may take some time for the case number to be issued, especially if additional investigations or reports are needed.
Typically, this can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the complexity of the case.
You can contact us via WhatsApp for more precise legal advice on your case. We specialize in criminal cases and can assist you in lifting the travel ban and clarifying the next steps.
Dear G.,
Thanks for your inquiry.
I understand your concerns regarding the delay in the issuance of the case number and the status of your travel ban.
Based on the information provided, here’s an overview of the situation and the steps I am taking to assist you:
Case Status:
As you know, the case was forwarded to the Dubai Public Prosecution after the individual withdrew their complaint at the police station.
While the complainant’s withdrawal is an important factor, the Public Prosecution may still choose to continue the investigation, which can sometimes lead to delays.
Typically, for minor traffic incidents, the issuance of a case number and a subsequent decision may take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the workload and complexity of the case.
Travel Ban:
The travel ban remains in place due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. Once the Public Prosecution issues a verdict or if the case is closed, we can request the removal of the travel ban.
If the case progresses with any delays, I will follow up on your behalf and make a formal request to expedite the process, especially if there is no further action required.
Next Steps:
I will personally follow up with the Dubai Public Prosecution to inquire about the status of your case and the reason for the delay in issuing the case number.
In parallel, I will explore the possibility of requesting the lifting of the travel ban based on the circumstances.
Legal Action on Delays:
If the delay continues without a clear resolution, we may consider sending a formal letter to the authorities to request an expedited resolution or case closure, especially since the complainant has withdrawn their case.
I understand the urgency of this matter, and I will ensure to keep you updated with any progress. Should you have any further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out at any time.

Involved in a minor accident in Dubai, where the other party withdrew their complaint, several legal processes are at play.
After the police file a report, the Public Prosecution may review it even if the complaint is withdrawn, which could influence your case's outcome.
Verdict issuance varies based on case complexity, Public Prosecution workload, and legal procedures, typically taking weeks to several months, though you've been waiting over two weeks without a case number.
Travel bans may remain until legal proceedings conclude, so confirm your status with the Public Prosecution.
Moving forward, regularly follow up for updates, seek legal advice if needed, and document all communications to navigate the process effectively.
