Q: Hi,
I was married in Dubai in June 2015 and divorced in October 2016. My then wife was in another relationship. When I found out in Feb 2016, I filed for divorce in Scotland.
Scots law dictates a separation of 1 year before the divorce is granted. As such, I travelled to Dubai in March 2016 to reclaim my belongings and finalize the decision.
In Oct 2016, I received the confirmation of divorce from my then wife along with a statement from the court compelling me to pay AED 100,000.00 as compensation.
I took the divorce as final but didn't pay the bill. As such, I would like to know, is there any open case against me in the UAE preventing my travel?

The right of a non-muslim wife to seek divorce present
2
Q: Good afternoon,
My brother is getting a divorce in Dubai. Both he and his wife are not Muslim but the divorce is done through Shariah Law.
His wife started proceeding in the family section with conciliators but herself never came and finally, the conciliator forwarded the case to the court.
In the first instance, it was granted a divorce without compensation (following also meeting with arbitrators) but both appealed the first instance decision.
His wife is now asking for Motaa (divorce present) in the appeal. His salary is around AED 65k.
Does he have to pay for it? How much approximately could it be?

Payment recovery for delay in the delivery of purchased property 0
Hi,
I need to hire a property lawyer.
I have purchased a property that is still under construction. The handover was supposed to be May 2018 and it has been delayed for over 18 months.
Can you please advise what is the average fee to the lawyer and any upcoming fees?
I would like to either receive compensation for the delay or terminate the SPA and receive what I have paid.
Thanks

Mutual Termination vs Resignation 1
Is it possible to request a mutual termination of the contract from the employer?
My employer recently asked me to submit a resignation. Since it's not legal for him to do this and since I don't mind leaving the company for better opportunities, is it legal for me to request a mutual termination of contract letter?
What are the important things that should be stated in the letter?

Legal remedy for non-compete suit filed by ex-employer 1
Hi,
I have signed a non-compete clause (under unlimited contract) with my previous company. After working for 8 years with them, they terminated me.
I have now joined a competitor considering there was no other job available in the market. Now after 7 months, my previous company has filed a legal suit asking for compensation considering I am in a similar role and in the same territory.
What is the available remedy?
