Visa renewal during the pendency of criminal and civil cases

Can someone renew his residency visa if a civil case is filed against him?

I had a criminal case last year (June 2018) due to bounced cheque (credit card issue). I have not paid the fine yet of AED 10,000.

My visa renewal is due on May 2019. I don't know if the bank has filed a civil case already.

Dear Questioner,

Please note that you will not be able to renew your visa when a criminal case is pending against you. You have mentioned a fine amount in the question.

If you pay the fine, you can apply for a clearance certificate, after which you can apply for the renewal of your visa.

Whereas in the civil case, even if there is a judgement against you and till the time there is no ban imposed by the other party, you can freely renew your residence visa.

Hope the above reply clarifies your concern satisfactorily.

Thank you.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Can you tell me what type of ban can the other party impose on me?

If ever they impose a travel ban with a civil case, will I be able to renew my residence visa?
