The impact of old TB scars on issuing a work visa
Dear Mr ElKhatib,
I am an assistant professor working currently in the United Kingdom. I suffered pulmonary TB 15 years ago (2003) and received all necessary medications.
I have some scars in my right lung; however, I worked before in the USA, Germany, Japan, and other countries.
Now, I have an offer from a university in Abu Dhabi but still worry about accepting it because I will resign from my job in the UK.
Do these scars make me unfit? Is there any solution for this problem?
Many thanks

Dear Questioner,
With reference to your inquiry, kindly be informed that I can utterly comprehend what you are seeking since it's totally unacceptable to resign, then face a predicament thereafter.
Indeed, the authorities in the UAE issue lifetime bans for everybody having old TB Scars, HOWEVER, I do not like to take anything for granted. Knocking on a few doors might be useful sometimes.
Hence, I do recommend contacting both of the following authorities:
1. Ministry of Health & Prevention.
AND
2. Abu Dhabi Department of Health.
You shall provide them with a crystal clear background, and they are the ones to be of assistance to you in that regard.
Wishing you the best.
For any further assistance, kindly contact me on (+971 505050 835).
Kind regards,
Sherif M. ElKhatib
