Adding customers to a Whatsapp group by a restaurant
A company (cafe/restaurant) that I have ordered from via a delivery app on occasions, just created a Whatsapp group including 200+ of its customers' private telephone numbers including mine.
I left the group quickly but my number can still be viewed by all those people. One even tried sending me a message before I blocked them. They should not have shared my telephone number with all those people I do not know!
Dear Questioner,
Since you did not ask any legal question, I would assume you are asking whether the restaurant has the right to add you to such group or not.
Theoretically, the restaurant does not have the right to do that or to use or share your telephone number with anyone.
Unless, they have in their delivery app terms and conditions a term that allows them to use your telephone number, name and details for marketing purposes and advertising.
In general, you must have approved such terms and conditions to be able to use the App.
The question now is to you: did you read the terms and conditions of use of the delivery app?
