What comes after the payment of a bounced cheque fine

If the court issued a fine on a bounced cheque case, do you pay the fine only and the case is cleared or do you also have to pay the cheque value?

Dear questioner,

The answer to your question is that you will still be liable to the cheque value. The beneficiary of the cheque has the right to file a civil case against you to recover the cheque amount.

What you paid as a fine has closed the criminal part of the crime of issuing a cheque in bad faith. The penalty is paid to the government and not to the beneficiary.
