In the past, it was illegal for unmarried couples to cohabitate. However, according to the new UAE law, unmarried couples are now permitted to stay together.

This applies to hotel bookings also. It is advisable however to read the policies for each hotel you are thinking of booking in Sharjah in case they have different rules for check-in (i.e., provide a marriage certificate).
