Where do I need to go in Dubai to file a complaint for rent increase?

Hello,

Where do I need to go in Dubai to file a complaint to RERA and contest a rent increase that is higher than the rental index?

Which documents should I bring with me?

Will it cost me 3.5 % of the rent?

Do I need to pay the rent to Dubai Land Department?

Many thanks

Dear User,

You may either file a complaint online or go to the head office located in Deira.

Documents may differ but bring your Ejari, lease agreement, Emirates ID, passport and visa, and how you were notified of the rental increase, title deed and passport copy of landlord, rental deposit slips, copies of cheques to the landlord, and so on.

The fee to file the complaint is 3.5% of the annual rent. However, additional fees such as translation services and/or administration costs may be added.

Regards,

Hi,

Pursuant to your query, you can approach the Land Department directly and tell them your concern.

They will ask you to come a few days before the expiry of your contract and submit the cheques to them.
