The consequences of non-attendance of a court case
Dear sir/madam,
I have a case in the First Instance court against me. I am a UK resident with a UK Company. I'm being sued by a Dubai company (unfairly). My UK team is telling me not to attend the case there, and to sue this person from London.
My fear is, and my understanding is that there will be a default judgment against me. Will this automatically mean that this will turn into a financial crime, and potentially have an arrest warrant out for me?

Hi,
Pursuant to your query, yes you are right if you don't attend the hearing, there will be an absent judgment/default judgment against you.
If there is no appeal filed by you within the limitation period, there will be an execution. There can be a travel ban against you.
Since I don't know if it is a civil case or a criminal case and the matter of the case, it is difficult to comment if there would be an arrest warrant against you.
So, it is advisable to hire a lawyer to represent you in court if you cannot attend the hearing.

Dear questioner,
We would need more details.
As far as I understand, there would be an absent judgment against you, and eventually, if the judgment is executed, it could mean there would be an arrest warrant.

Dear questioner
A civil judgment passed in default will not turn into a criminal case, however, the claimant may enforce the judgment of the arrest warrant against you in the UAE.
This enforcement could also extend to the UK but needs thorough procedures. We advise that you weigh your options carefully.
