Can I pass in a GCC airport for transit if I have a debt in the UAE?

Hi Rajasree,

I lived in the UAE and then came back to my home country. I have 3 credit cards outstanding around AED 25K with UAE banks and now I want to travel to the UK.

So the question I have is whether transiting via Doha airport is safe or not.

Do they arrest or detain me in Doha for the outstanding I have with UAE's bank credit card?

No. In normal cases, you will not be stopped at Doha airport because of unpaid debt in Dubai.

Hi Rajasree,

Thank you very much for replying back, I found your answer too much to my satisfaction.

You have mentioned in your reply that "No. In normal cases, you will not be stopped at Doha airport because of unpaid debt in Dubai."

So will the credit card outstanding of UAE banks be considered as a normal case and there will be no action while transiting from Doha (Qatar) by the Qatari authorities?

Is my case a normal case?

Hi Rajasree,

Could you answer my above query, that will be really helpful for me?

I have heard that a million dirham of unpaid debt may have an effect but a few thousand is less likely.

So is it safe to travel via Qatar in my case, as you mention that I will not be stopped at Doha airport?

Apologies if I am nagging, but there is nowhere else to go for help except Rajasree.

I'll anyways settle those outstandings soon and will take your legal services only.
