Refusing to renew an employment limited contract by an employee

Hi,

Is it possible for my employer to issue any kind of ban against me if I decide not to renew my limited contract?

I have worked with them for 8 years and I don't have any desire to renew this time as I want to join a different company.

Can they do anything to stop me from joining another company?

Imposing employment bans are rare these days.

However, if you are moving to another employer who is offering a good salary and profession, it is less likely to be banned.

May I know on what grounds?

One of my coworkers did not renew and he worked for 14 years on a limited contract.

He got a 1-year ban. I am afraid they will do the same to me.
