Questions & Answers
What legal action can be done to claim a cheque after the expiry date?
I have given a cheque to someone but the cheque had not been presented on the bank and the validity of the cheque has been expired, one and half year passed from the due date.
Please, what action can be taken legally against the person who issued the cheque?

Dear Questioner,
If that money is owed to you, you can open a Civil Case for the recovery of the amount.
You can call us on the phone to discuss this further.

Dear Questioner,
According to the law, a cheque with a due date is only valid for 6 months.
So after a year and a half, the individual who holds it is unable to cash it; even the bank refuses to accept it. He will be asked to replace the check with a fresh one by the bank.
If you need any further information or legal assistance, do not hesitate to contact us on the phone or by email.

Open a civil case with the cheque as proof.
