Questions & Answers
Is it possible for the law firm to take money from the opponent without my knowledge?
I have doubts in a civil case; all procedures and court fees are finished. The opponent is ready to pay the money. I'm not in the UAE.
Can the law firm can take the money without my knowledge? The cheque is in my hand.

Dear questioner,
It actually depends on the type of power of attorney agreement you gave to your lawyers.
If it contains a condition that allows them to receive money on your behalf, then they can do so. However, your question is a bit unclear.
Kindly contact us through a phone call for more information.
Thanks

If the POA gives such powers to the law firm, then yes, they can.
However, they can only claim the amount in cash or via another cheque than the one in your hand, or else you should give the power to the law firm on the back of the cheque and send it to the law firm so they can withdraw it.
If you are concerned that they may take the money without your acknowledgement, then you must send them a formal notice to be used later as evidence that the opponent wants to settle and I want your firm to act on my behalf to receive the amount.
