You can copy your correspondence with the landlord and go to the Dubai lands & properties department and file a rental complaint. They will agree to receive the keys and close the contract on behalf of the landlord.

The landlord filed a case for not returning the keys. He is demanding a large amount. How do I defend myself?

There is now a law saying tenants must return keys via RDC, but the case which is against me is approved.

Thank you!

We can proceed with the needed legal action on your behalf depending on the documents in your hand and the circumstances since you mentioned before that "there is no reply from landlord", "I returned the keys via RDC" and now "you are mentioning: "the landlord filed a case for not returning the keys".

He wasn’t contactable and responsive when I made every attempt to return the keys.

But when the keys were returned via RDC, he filed an urgent case to demand money for the period of time when he was uncontactable.

So all you have to do is to provide the court with the proof that you tried to contact him via WhatsApp messages and any other messages.

Also, the delivery report of the keys to the RDC.
