Overstaying because a family member is tested positive for COVID

Our residence visa grace period expires soon. Because a family member is positive for Covid-19 and he is in-home quarantine, we are unable to fly within the grace time. What should we do?

Will we be fined?

Hello,

Thank you for your message!

Once your visa is canceled, you will have a grace period of 30 days to amend your status and get another residence visa or leave the country.

There will be no fines during the grace period.

If you overstay after the 30-day grace period, the following fines will apply:

- AED 125 for the first day.

- AED 25 for each subsequent day.

- AED 50 per day after six months of overstaying.

- AED 100 per day after one year of overstaying.

Should you require further tailored substantive legal advice or assistance with your matter, kindly contact my firm via phone or email.

Regards,

Ludmila
