Q: My wife recently had her nails done in Abu Dhabi. During the so-called soaking off of the old nails which included using acetone & aluminium foil, after a time my wife noted her fingers were becoming sore. After removing the foils, her fingertips were showing extensive burns. In 20 odd years, this has never happened. Can we claim for this type of negligence? I have emailed the salon concerned, twice & messaged the owner, but have had no reply. Please advise. Thanks

Q: Hi. I have a statement from the Dubai Health Authority stating there has been malpractice in my case with my plastic surgeon and I have the right to be compensated. The surgeon is currently in the US and I suppose no longer has a practice license in Dubai but the medical clinic is still in Dubai. In this case, who should compensate me for the mistake; is it the doctor or the clinic? I have emailed the clinic with my official statement but they have not responded.

Q: I got 2nd-degree burns in my buttocks and 1st degree burns in 6 places thru a slimming beauty center where I was advised to do a Detox machine. They wrapped me full and put me in high heat. I screamed for help but no one came until it was 20 minutes. I got burnt which I didn't realize but told it's too hot, switch off treatment, I don't want. I want to sue the company for compensation due to their negligence. I have had a sleepless night. On my birthday date, I was in the hospital for 4 hours. I had to go to Dr every day for the bandage. I am traumatized. I went to the police station. I went to DED but in the end, they said to go to Court. I am confused. I have a medical report plus all my burns photos. It happened on April 3rd. Q: Dear community, Our relative is on a tourist visa in Dubai. She has visited a beauty salon yesterday in DIFC. A standard procedure has resulted in severe cut with continuous bleeding, in sensitive parts. The salon didn't charge her and they followed up asking if she was okay. We bought medicine to stop the bleeding at home. We didn't visit the hospital or a doctor, as we have an 8-month-old baby and it is not easy to do this. Q: Hello. I am facing a really horrible time after visiting one of the salons in Dubai in December 2020. I had permanent makeup remover on my eyebrows and it is been now 1 year and a half and I have horrible red scars on my face instead of eyebrows. I visited a lot of clinics trying to improve it, however, all doctors are saying it is scars and nothing can be done and I have to live with it. I want to file a case against that salon that did it for me. I am a young lady and now I have to hide my face once I step out of my apartment because of these horrible scars. My lifestyle is changed, I am trying to avoid people so they will not look at my scars, it kills me day by day and I got so much depressed.

Q: Hello. I went to a very well-known and professional salon (or so I thought) for a normal hair dye. The guy who did my hair left the dye on my hair for over an hour when it was supposed to be on for a maximum of 30 minutes. He wasn’t paying attention to me walking around the store talking to everyone and also doing another customer's extensions. Now my hair is potentially damaged, my skull burns, and is flaky (meaning the dye wasn’t ammonia-free which is extremely unprofessional for such an expensive salon). I didn’t even get the outcome that I wanted and the dye color doesn’t even show. I talked to him about it but he shut it down so fast and gaslit me the whole time and made me feel like I was the wrong one and I was ‘complaining about something so light’.
