Q: Dear Sir,
I have given some money (AED 185,000) to my friend for his business purpose, almost 18 months before. Now, he does not return my money back.
I didn't have any legal agreements or security cheque. I transferred this amount from my account to his account. Can I proceed with a case?

How to recover money loaned to a friend with transfer proof and guarantee cheque?
0
Q: I had given my friend money multiple times over the last year with a cheque I have as a guarantee.
He has partially paid back half of it but states he cannot pay the balance which is almost AED 300k.
The cheque expired on June 30, 2022. However, all the transfer of money was done through a bank account so I have bank statements as proof.
What legal choice do I have to make him pay the money?

How can I claim money back from a friend without a cheque or agreement?

0
Q: Hello All,
I am living in Dubai and I am financially supporting one of my friends (who runs man power consultancy in Deira) from March 2020 to this date. Now the total amount increased more than AED 275000 (AED 175000 + INR 2500000) Approx.
I keep on asking him to return the full money but he is not returning it. He is always asking for more time to return it but he has missed all the dates multiple times and he is not returning it back.
Please, any one let me know if I make a police complaint on him in Dubai, will I get my money back? Or what kind of action will Dubai police take?
I have account statements as a proof.
My friend already has police cases in Dubai for not paying rent for his house, cheque bounce...
Recently, on 27 June 2022, police arrested him but I don't know where he is now and for which case the police arrested him.

Verbal agreement gone wrong: seeking repayment of misused funds from a co-worker

2
Q: Dear sir/madam,
I entered into a business venture with my co-worker, but we only had a verbal contract. I gave him 100k QR, but he lied and said he was sending the money to his mother for a lending business.
Unfortunately, he actually invested it in a pyramid scam.
Do I have a chance to win my case and obligate him to pay me back the remaining 66k QR?
My only evidence is WhatsApp messages, bank transactions showing that I sent him the money, and his bank transactions showing that he sent money to my account.
What should I do now?

View allCan you enter Dubai if you leave a GCC country with possible civil and criminal cases? 0
Hi Hayyan,
In 2014 I had been to Qatar on a "Work-Business" visa valid for 30 days. Before my visa expiration, I fled from Qatar back to India without informing the sponsor or office management.
After I returned to India, I received an email from HR stating that the Qatari sponsor has filed an absconding case, a civil case, and a criminal case against me with the Ministry of Interior in Qatar.
Now my question is, can I travel to Dubai on a work visa?
Will there be any issue entering Dubai assuming that the Qatari sponsor has filed the said cases against me?
Awaiting your response,
H.
Currently staying in India.

Help with drafting service provider agreement for marketplace tech startup 0
We are a tech startup creating the first auto/car service and repair marketplace.
As a marketplace, we only facilitate listing and booking the services while the service providers (the workshops) are the service providers and are responsible to deliver and carry the selected /booked job.
We need to draft a marketplace supplier/service provider agreement between us and the workshops outlining the responsibilities and liabilities of both sides.
I would like to work with a law firm that has previous experience in drafting such marketplace-related agreements.

View allCan a debt agency access AECB reports without consent for a 15-year-old closed case? 0
Dear Respected Lawyers,
Subject: Request for Legal Advice Regarding Unlawful Practices by a Debt Collection Agency
I would greatly appreciate your advice and guidance regarding a troubling issue my colleague is facing with a collection agency.
The company has been contacting the employer, urging them to ask my colleague to get in touch with them regarding a supposed liability.
This claim is related to a 15-year-old closed dispute with a bank credit card, and the issue seems to stem from outdated and inaccurate information on the AECB report.
Our main concerns are as follows:
Unauthorized Access: The company is accessing her AECB report without her consent. She has never given permission for them to retrieve or view her personal financial information.
How is it possible for a third-party agency to openly access and track AECB reports, especially for a dispute that was resolved 15 years ago?

I was evicted from my apartment to be sold but it was gifted and rented at a higher price. What can I do? 0
I was evicted from my apartment after living there for five years. My landlord informed me a year in advance that the lease would not be renewed because he intended to sell the property.
Prior to this, he attempted to impose a rent increase that was not compliant with RERA regulations, which I refused to accept. He then served me with an official Dubai Court eviction notice, citing the need to take back the property for sale.
Five months after I moved out, I discovered the property was rented out at a much higher price. Upon further investigation, I found that the ownership was transferred as a "Gift" rather than a sale.
This makes it seem like the eviction was only to raise the rent rather than a genuine need to sell.
Do I have a valid case for wrongful eviction against my landlord?
Also, under Dubai law, does transferring ownership as a "Gift" hold the same legal grounds as selling in justifying eviction?

I invested money in a business but my partner is removing me out from partnership. Can I pursue legal action? 0
Hi
I'm an Irish citizen and a resident of the United Kingdom. I got investment fraud in Dubai. I invested money into a business with a Pakistani national guy in March 2024 via bank transfer into his business account.
Now he's giving back the money which I invested in business after 9 months. He's preparing a letter from a local lawyer to kick me out of the business. I do not have any other option than to take out at least my money.
But it's unfair to me that he used my money in business and took all the advantage.
Some people say to me that if you claim money or take legal action against him, it will take too much time and I need to travel to Dubai to appear in court because it is a civil matter. But I'm not a resident.
How can I follow the civil case there?
That's why my partner knows that I can not do anything and this case keeps running long time and in the end nothing happens. But I'm thinking that I will submit a complaint through my embassy and I also have a solicitor in the United Kingdom.
