Is it possible for a Muslim British man who owns properties in Dubai to draft a will?

My father is 89 years old. He is a British National and Muslim.

He holds bank accounts and owns properties in Dubai.

What law will apply to his Will? UAE or British law?

Is it possible for him to draft a will under UAE law disposing of his assets as he chooses as opposed to Sharia?

Hello,

As he is a Muslim and wants to draft a will, hence as per UAE Law, Sharia rules shall be applicable. If he opposes Sharia Law and as he is a British National, hence we can seek for special condition but it is up to the court to decide.

A Muslim can't make a will for more than 1/3 of his property and there are many other conditions, therefore, it's not good to make a will, and the UAE court also does not consider a will for Muslims.

You may also consult a UK lawyer for UK law on will for Muslims. I am not aware of it.
