Test requirements for COVID-19 when entering Abu Dhabi

I got a fine for not conducting a medical test upon request. But I did the result on the sixth day after entering Abu Dhabi.

I raised a grievance against fines issued for violating COVID-19 precautionary measures. But I need to leave the country in the next 2 weeks.

Dear Questioner,

Apologies for the late response.

Please note that entering Abu Dhabi requires an individual to provide a negative COVID-19 test result. At the border, two types of test results are accepted:

a. An RT-PCR test (Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test), which is done through a nasal swab.

b. Laser-based DPI (Diffractive Phase Interferometry test), which is a blood test.

You can show a negative result from either of these two types of tests. However, you can only enter Abu Dhabi within 48 hours of receiving the test result.

2. If you plan to stay in Abu Dhabi for four or more days, you would need to get a PCR test done on Day 4. This will be applicable to all people entering the emirate from November 8, 2020.

3. If you plan to stay in Abu Dhabi for eight or more days, you would need to take another PCR test on Day 8.

The two retests need to be PCR tests only and apply to anyone entering Abu Dhabi, including residents who may have exited the emirate and are returning.

Regards,

Rajasree Ravivarma
