Releasing a passport by depositing another in bounced cheques case
My ex-wife has bounced two rent cheques totalling AED 46000 from a joint account that she has been removed from 4 weeks ago.
I was stopped at the border as I work for Emirates and my passport has been taken until the debt is cleared. She is willing to give her passport to guarantee the debt but will this be allowed?
I need my passport to work and she is willing to take responsibility for the debt.
You need to place money or a bond/passport to secure the release of your passport. She has to file an application whereby she guarantees your appearance in the court when required.
The bail application must be made in writing and must specify the name of the defendant to be released, his nationality and the case number, subject to the bail.
The applicant must apply writing his full name, nationality and relationship with the defendant either at the courts, police headquarters, public prosecutor or at a police station.
